Amazising that someone could write 275 pages about the role sugar has played in our culture and economy. The author is an academic (anthropologist) so he has his agenda in my opinion. But there is a fascinating history here about something we think little about in the 21st century. We just buy it and eat it if we can. But it had a more major role in the economics, culture and history of the past. To me it is just sugar. How people saw it in the past is sometimes intreging and sometimes dull. Many little interesting stories are also here that make the book interesting.
