Sweet Thursday
Author: John Steinbeck
Sweet Thursday is another of John Steinbecks' warmly human novels about the denizens of a California skid row. Eschewing the proper, the conservative, the average, Steinbeck has turned to the outcast - the alcoholic, the whore, the down-at-the-heels philosopher - to define the common bonds of love that unite mankind.

This is a sequel to Cannery Row. Steinbeck had extrodinary talent for molding characters, describing their lives, the places they lived, their struglles, passions, and their connections with one another. This book is delightful and beautifully descriptive.
