This is a story about 4 different people involed in a school bus accident. It exlores their lives and perspective of the accident. There are twist and turns in the characters lives that are surprising. This is an easy read.

I really liked this book. The first one of his I have ever read. I couldn't get through Affliction but this one was good.

I thought this book was great. The story is about the aftermath of a school bus accident, and each chapter is told first person by different individuals affected by the accident. The stories are very human; character development is rich and winning. The writing is precise and readable. Banks shows us how one event appears to be so very different to different individuals.

A schoolbus accident provides the means to explore the question, "When the worst happens, whom do you blame?"

In the Sweet Hereafter, Russell Banks tells a story that begins with a schoolbus accident. Using four different narrators, Banks creates a small-town morality play that addresses one of life's most agonizing questions- when the worst thing happens, whom do you blame?

Very affecting and well-written. It left me wanting to know more about these characters. I almost felt the author could have written a book for each of the characters.
