This Author is not quite my cup of tea...but I did enjoy reading his book and experiencing a different type of writing style. Instead of coming right out nad stating what he thinks and feels he hides his meaning behind other stories and makes you really think about what he is trying to say. His message does come out quite clearly though.
I feel like this book is about a man's attempt to understand himself. I would suggest reading the book...Linda

This wasn't what I thought it would be, not my cup of tea.
Not as good as I hoped, but a good book and worth reading! Humorous!
I so enjoy listening to Roy Blount, Jr. on NPR, I was sure I would enjoy his books, but...This seemed to be more a rambling stream of consciousness, full of blurbs that usually weren't connected in anyway. I still am not sure why he hated his mother... but maybe he isn't either. There was a whole chapter on people who had Jr. tacked on to the end of their names. A LONG chapter. I had to skip most of it. I did read to the end, to see if I could figure out if he could figure out why he hated his mother. I hope he has much better books in him, because I was highly disappointed in this one.
Funny, quirky, truly original. I love listening to this guy on NPR and enjoy his writing as well.
His writing is hilarious. A love story like no other.
