#2 in the series and better than the first one....I couldn't put it down. You should read The Rose Legacy first...

This story picks up where The Rose Legacy left off. The characters are better established and the plot deepens. I truly enjoyed this book as well as the rest of the Diamond of the Rockies series.
Excellent book by one of my newest favorite authors. Story is about a woman and her new husband in a mining town and the struggles they face.
I thought the plot structure was fantastic, but the character development very weak. Even through I read the entire series, I still barely had a clear visual of what the characters really looked like, and it was hard to make a solid image in my mind from the descriptions or lack therof. My other qualm about the book and series, was that some of the content was a little more mature than I expected, and some of the "romantic" parts borderline on a less Christian-style novel. The author had some good lessons on Forgiveness that were brought out, but the Christian messages could have been a little stronger as well. Overall, the plot development certainly carried the books, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this series to unmarried or younger ladies or weaker Christians.
