This is a compact book, and at very first glance it does not seem to have much to offer. When I first begin reading though, it became abundantly clear that this author has much talent and wisdom to offer to their readers, especially those in need of some easy tips and small steps towards being a more centered, grounded, easy-going person no matter what your lifestyle may be, and thus doing so decreases the stress of your day to day life along with the stresses of a major crisis situation should one ever evolve. Packed with helpful hints, tips, meditations, and the Autthor's own touch of the philosophies of life and well-balanced health. A must read for those into self-help books and Psychology, especially recommended in my opinion for those with PTSD, OCD, Depression, Anxiety and/or Panic Disorders and also just for the general public, someone who is looking into different ways to help unwind and de-stress your life. If any of this fits you, than this book is a must have edition to your library. (Here's a little secret, it's also in my own personal library, I just happen to have an extra copy...lol)

This is a great book to help you "decompress" and lower your stress level. Too much of what we stress and worry over is either things we can't control or things that really aren't that important. This book will help you relax and regain balance in your life.

Got a stress case in your life? Of course you do: "Without question, many of us have mastered the neurotic art of spending much of our lives worrying about a variety of things all at once." Carlson's cheerful book aims to make us stop and smell--if not roses--whatever is sitting in front of our noses. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff... offers 100 meditations designed to make you appreciate being alive, keep your emotions (especially anger and dissatisfaction) in proper perspective, and cherish other people as the unique miracles they are. It's an owner's manual of the heart, and if you follow the directions, you will be a happier, more harmonious person. Like Stairmasters, oat bran, and other things that are good for you, the meditations take discipline. Even so, some of the strategies are kind of fun: "Imagine the people in your life as tiny infants and as 100-year-old adults." The trouble is, once you start, it's hard to stop.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The author shares many great insights from his professional and personal experiences regarding how to live a fuller, more meaningful and satisfying life. My only criticisms are that it was unclear exactly how some of his strategies could be put to use in one's daily life, although using one of the workbooks that accompany this series might have been helpful in that respect. At times, the book seemed a bit redundant, but then again, by repeatedly drawing on his most important points, the author made sure that his most important ideas hit home. I recommend this book to all individuals who aspire to make small changes that will ultimately improve their quality of life.
This is a GOOD read for sure. It's all about NOT letting the little things in life drive you crazy....Learn to trust your intuitions and live each day as if it may be your last....HOW true is this? Fun, supportive and gentle ways to "look at life".....I've actually gone back to it many times for the enjoyment of the writing.....and ....yes....the little things in life that drive you crazy......I call it the "Handbook for the Soul"....You'll enjoy it for sure....

Here's a no-nonsense approach to spirituality written by a man who knows what he's talking about when it comes to burdening ourselves with too much "stuff" in our society and culture. It's an interesting read that helps you free yourself from guilt and shame. There's too little time to spend in living in our heads!

I love this book because it is easy to read, positive and inspiring. This is a book that you should read only one or two chapters so that you can dwell on its meaning and it helps you to deal with all the little "small stuff" that happens in our daily lives.
It makes you appreciate and enjoy every day that we have on earth. And truly you can change your outlook and see that everyone and everything that happens to us is important and makes us who we are. We all must learn to live and love with one another including all the faults. We strengthen our character with patience and acceptance . God doesn't make mistakes!

Stress consultant Carlson reads his self-help guide with conviction, his gentle voice clear and persuasive. He presents common-sense advice for living a less hectic and more meaningful, loving life. His essential message is that we get caught up in minutiae, "the small stuff," and never get around to doing what makes us or our loved ones happy. He advises readers to engage in such small acts as paying someone a compliment daily, putting a lid on keeping track of who does what around the house, and writing a letter to a friend. Carlson urges small daily changes and uses examples of improvement from his own life to show how the advice works, making the book ideally suited to the audio format. Tape quality is excellent. Recommended for public libraries.?Nancy R. Ives, SUNY at Geneseo
