I loved this book-- Marianne Denton is in need of money to help save her mother and sister. Her marriage to Noah(a sea merchant) will unlock her inheritance. Noah Knows Marianne from his youth--a spoiled, rich, unworking girl. A plain girl not his type but his father wants the match. After fleeing their engagement party to return to his ship Noah finds she (Marianne)on board and not what he thought. I love all of Tyndall books filled with adventure, and romance.

Two reluctant young people, engaged for all the wrong reasons.

He needed her money to further his family's business. She needed to marry to unlock her inheritance so she could save her beloved mother. Two hearts so intent on using the other for everything but love, can there be a reconciliation? Is it possible for two people so far apart to find the one thing they never expected?

Join Marianne as she chases loathsome Noah down after he deserts her and publicly humiliates her in front of everyone of importance. Watch in horror as a delightful set of circumstances abound to keep the two disinterested parties together - finally culminating in a heroic set of events that takes place in the War of 1812.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I had no desire to put it down. Ms. Tyndall has the ability to make you feel as though you were actually there in the thick of things by her spellbinding imagery. I look forward to reading more of her works, and highly recommend it to those who love historical fiction.

My book with the same ISBN listed is titled "Surrender the Heart".

I'm a first time reader of M.L. Tyndall. This won't be my last book by her! I could not put this book down!! Poor Marianne grabbed my heart right from the start. Who wouldn't feel sorry for a young girl who's whole life (and the lives of her mother and sister) depend on her marrying a wealthy sea merchant? Especially one who she doesn't love and he doesn't love her in return. Noah is one of those men who is going to have it his way and nothing will stop that. He leaves the engagement party to board his ship. What a man, eh?

M.L. Tyndall has written a book that doesn't give a "perfect world view" of the main characters. Marianne is described as rather plain and Noah doesn't sound all that attractive to me. Marianne is also a bit conniving and spunky too! However, I became more enamored with Lieutenant Reed and Luke. Even more than him, Mr. Weller absolutely stole my heart! The characters were so well developed that you feel like you know then as you read this tale of swashbuckling adventure!

I am definitely a fan now of M.L. Tyndall and I look forward to the next book in this series.

This book was excellent. However, the title on the book is "surrender the heart" and the cover is the same girl but slightly different angle. The book description is identical but they must have changed the name somehow from "sea" to "heart. It is the first book in the Surrender to Destiny series so not sure why the change of title. I loved the story and it was a quick read wanting to know what happened next. Really liked the changes that occurred with the characters as they learned to trust in the Lord. Exciting yet inspirational.

I enjoyed this first book of the Surrender to Destiny series. It is an engaging story with a unique storyline encompassing several unexpected twists. The history is interesting, as it takes place just prior to and during the beginning of the War of 1812, which is not a time period that I usually come across in historical fiction. Most of this fast-paced story takes place at sea.

Surrender the Heart is filled with a good balance of interesting characters. Marianne Denton, the reluctant heroine, considers herself to be plain and ordinary. Noah Brenin was certainly not my pick for a hero, but there is more to him than is at first apparent. One of my favorite characters is young Daniel, who seemed to have a very special bond with God and can always be counted upon to have a positive outlook, even in dire circumstances. Captain Milford is a maniacal, alcoholic; and Lieutenant Garrick is evil personified--"He'll beat a man senseless for the smallest infraction" (Blackthorn).

If you enjoy historical fiction with a dose of romance, I think you will enjoy this book. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, though you can easily read this book as a stand-alone novel.
