Gloria Mendez is thirty-six, single, and hopelessly in love with her oblivious boss, a soft-spoken loner twenty years her senior. Her friends might urge her to look for someone more her age, but
Gloria knows the real thing when shee sees it.
So when he disappears while on vacation in Mexico, it's Gloria who goes in search of him. As she follows his trail deep into the desert, she runs face-first into a staggering history of betrayal and death: the wreckage of a hidden past. Carl Perreira was not the man she thought she knew-nor was he anything she could have imagined.
Her journey will teach her as much about herself as it does about Carl. And as she plunges closer to his fleeing shadow, she will find herself fighting not only for the truth, but for her life.
My first Jesse Kellerman read. I am big fans of his parents and now one of his. I thought the book started off a little slow, but as I continued to read it,i found I could not put it down. Very good.

First book by son of Faye and Jonathan Kellerman. He lives up to their suspenseful writing and throws in some twists of his own.

No matter how hard I tried, I just could not get into this book. Sad, because I was sooo excited to find a brand new hard back book at Goodwill for .49! I'll just be happy that I can post it to a Wishlist and make somebody else happy.
Enjoyed this book..
An interesting story, a good read. Not a page-turner, but satisfying if you stick with it.
This just wasn't my type of book - offbeat is an understatement.
Jesse Kellerman is following in the footsteps of his parents, Jonathan and Faye Kellerman who are well-known novelists. This is his debut book.
This is a debut book for Jesse Kellerman (son of Jonathan & Faye). "Quite simply briliant"...Robert B. Parker. "A dynamite debut. A thriller that delivers"...Harlan Coben. "Don't miss it"...Tony Hillerman. I found it a good read. Very different story. Kept me thorougly engrossed from beginning to end!
Written with wry intelligence. Characters well drawn -- shades of grey portrait of human life and choices.
Very good, good new author for me.
Excellent debut by Faye and Jonathan Kellerman's son, Jesse.
Dirst of a series of Jesse Kellerman, the son of the famous authers. t is about a middle aged woman who tries to find the killers of her boss. Need editing to be good.
Pretty good first novel for the son of Faye and Jonathan Kellerman. I really liked the heroine, and his second novel looks good too.
First mystery by the son of Jonathan & Fay Kellerman
"Expertly drawn characters, vivid scenes and simmering tension." Booklist
I thought this book was a winner. Good mystery, involving characters, beautiful prose.
For some reason it took me a while to read this, but the plot is really interesting, and so are the characters. Jesse Kellerman is definitely a writer to watch!
lots of twists... great mystery.
I was excited to see another Kellerman writing - they appear to have it in the blood. The book was slow to read but that wasn't to its detriment. I enjoyed the pace as if that was the pace Kellerman intended. Plenty of plot twists and best of all good characterization. I am giving it 5 stars for an excellent new author and I will be watching for more books by him.
Entertaining with surprise plot twists.
I've always enjoyed the Kellerman's books and am glad to see another generation of Kellerman writing. It more than lives up to the challenge.
Good listen. A bit weird in the middle, but I enjoyed it.
