No matter how hard I tried, I just could not get into this book. Sad, because I was sooo excited to find a brand new hard back book at Goodwill for .49! I'll just be happy that I can post it to a Wishlist and make somebody else happy.

Gloria Mendez is thirty-six, single, and hopelessly in love with her oblivious boss, a soft-spoken loner twenty years her senior. Her friends might urge her to look for someone more her age, but
Gloria knows the real thing when shee sees it.
So when he disappears while on vacation in Mexico, it's Gloria who goes in search of him. As she follows his trail deep into the desert, she runs face-first into a staggering history of betrayal and death: the wreckage of a hidden past. Carl Perreira was not the man she thought she knew-nor was he anything she could have imagined.
Her journey will teach her as much about herself as it does about Carl. And as she plunges closer to his fleeing shadow, she will find herself fighting not only for the truth, but for her life.
My first Jesse Kellerman read. I am big fans of his parents and now one of his. I thought the book started off a little slow, but as I continued to read it,i found I could not put it down. Very good.

First book by son of Faye and Jonathan Kellerman. He lives up to their suspenseful writing and throws in some twists of his own.

I thought this book was a winner. Good mystery, involving characters, beautiful prose.

I was excited to see another Kellerman writing - they appear to have it in the blood. The book was slow to read but that wasn't to its detriment. I enjoyed the pace as if that was the pace Kellerman intended. Plenty of plot twists and best of all good characterization. I am giving it 5 stars for an excellent new author and I will be watching for more books by him.

For some reason it took me a while to read this, but the plot is really interesting, and so are the characters. Jesse Kellerman is definitely a writer to watch!

This just wasn't my type of book - offbeat is an understatement.

Jesse Kellerman is following in the footsteps of his parents, Jonathan and Faye Kellerman who are well-known novelists. This is his debut book.

An interesting story, a good read. Not a page-turner, but satisfying if you stick with it.

Good listen. A bit weird in the middle, but I enjoyed it.
