As with all of Anne Perry's novels, this is excellent.
She deals with a subject that was/is controversial. She also gives the history of why it has been a problem and why England, as well as the US, had ignored it.
I wasn't aware of that history because I hadn't encountered it in any textbooks I have studied.

I am trying not to give away the plot.
I give the book 5 stars. I didn't know the individual who committed the crime altho I had my suspicions. Still, I didn't know why the crime was committed.
Some people are ones you have met in her previous novels in the series. Anne Perry does a wonderful job developing in them certain characteristics as their lives have changed, just as we experience life today.
