-BLOOD ON THE HIGH PLAINS-
The last thing Darby Curtis wanted was an Indian war. He owned the High Plains Freight Company, had thirteen big mules, three payload wagons, and a chance to strike it rich - provided nobody started shooting.
But a ruthless bunch of land-grabbers didn't see it that way. They wanted the high plains for themselves even if it meant fanning the flames of an Indian uprising to get the government on their side.
And when the showdown came between a crack U.S. cavalry troop and a fierce band of Blackleg Kiowa warriors, Darby made his stand - and found himself caught in a deadly crossfire of hot lead. The cavalry and the Kiowa were out for blood...and the blood they wanted was his.
