I thought this book was great. It was sassy, funny and inspiring. I have begun my own list of dreams as a result of reading this book and loving it so much. (And my 14 year old daughter has also begun a list of dreams) I must add that I have never read a book with SOOO much constant (and I mean really really constant) alchohol consumption. There was nearly a drink on every page. While some of the drinking was a nice touch I thought there was WAYYYY too much. However, in spite of this fact, I did love the book a lot. Very pro woman.

Wow! I really disliked this book. I rarely give up on a book, but this one I did. The combination of heavy emphasis on the sex toy shop, the mother's almost joyous approval of her daughter's promiscuity, and little digs about giving up on belief in God did me in. I just didn't want to read any more. Even the writing is bad. I got very tired of incomplete sentences and run-on sentences. I understand that not everyone has the same taste in entertainment, but I thought I'd present my opinion in hopes of saving a like-minded person from wasting a credit on this book. (I couldn't figure out how to give it zero stars.)

An inspiring book about making amends and power of the mother-daughter relationship. Connie Nixon takes a trip from her hometown in Indiana to New York City to see her estranged daughter of 3 yrs. Her daughter is CEO of her own business which Connie finds out is a sex toy shop! They both re-connect in the most unexpected and amusing ways. The moral is to not just make a list of dreams....get to it and actually live those dreams!

Nice short read. If you are a middle aged woman on the verge of change, this is the one to read...very fun and focus is on mother daughter relationships.

Interesting but not what I was expecting! Upon her retirement as a nurse, Connie starts cleaning out her basement in preparation to selling her house and moving into a condo. As she attacks one daughter's stored junk, the truth about her current life jumps out - her daughter owns a thriving sex-toy store in Manhattan! From that point, Connie's life veers dramatically from the expected following of careful lists of hopes and dreams into a unexplored feminist vista of growth.
This might be appealing if you're a middle-aged housewife having a mid-life crisis, but it sure didn't do it for me.

I'm not sure what I was expecting going in to this book, but I didn't get it that's for sure. BUT that isn't a bad thing. I found this to be a rather interesting story in a way that I never could have predicted. So while I woulnd't put it on my top five books of all time, I definitely enjoyed the characters and that goes a long way in my opinion.

I liked the story. It was funny and empowering, as all the books by Kris Radish I've read have been, but it was also a little too wordy and I felt she was belaboring the point a little too much.

Very fun, empowering book for women. Relies a little too much on sex toys as the key to happiness; but very frank and entertaining for women who need a little encouragement.
I didn't care for this story. The main character, Connie was unlikeable and the sex-toy storyline was overdone. I wanted to rescue the dead horse from further severe beatings and was very glad to turn the last page.

This is a novel you will have to be opened minded about and be aware that there is much talk of sex, as one daughter has a sex toy business. I found this novel to be mostly boring and really did not care for it. It felt like it just kept going no where.
I really struggled to get through this book, though I'm glad I read it. The main charactor in this story tends to ramble on and on about the same thing over and over again. After awhile it got a bit annoying. I had to put it down several times and just walk away.
I will say though that it's a very women-empowering book though and worth the read if you can get past the main character's rants.

I am absolutely a Kris Radish fan, but Kris, Kris, Kris, you missed the mark on this one.
We read it for our book club and all agreed that it was by far not her best work. I felt like the sex toy theme was gratuitous and the relationships less than believable. Even as an ardent Radish fan, I wouldn't recommend this one.

I just didn't enjoy this book. I guess it just wasn't my cup o' tea. I was so thrilled to finally have finished reading it.
Was able to listen to this on CD's during my commute and as a list maker of dreams myself have to say how much I loved this book. I have 3 sisters and the mom character - Connie - had some of the same ideas regarding raising girls alone that my mom must have had. Get ready for a party because that is what these gals love to do!!
