This is a good book for romance-readers and if you like time travel. It makes one think---if you could back and see what could have been had you chosen a different path in life (ie, mate)...well, who knows?!
It really made me think and look back at the "ones who got away" !

This was a really good read with a unique plot! Three women reunite at a summerhouse and are given the opportunity from a "Madame Zoya" ro relive any 3 weeks from the past. Interesting!! How will they decide what dream that got away to follow? Read this book and you may just want to go and dust off some of your own old dreams!!

What if a woman could go back to the beginning and rethink her choices for love and life? When Leslie Headrick, Madison Appleby, and Ellie Abbott first met, they were in their early 20s and the world lay before them with its infinite possibilities. Now that they're about to turn 40, they reunite for a weekend at a summerhouse in Maine where they share the details of their lives during the past 20 years. Each woman has serious doubts and questions about the path she chose to follow, but none of them suspect the startling opportunity they're about to be offered to relive those choices and change their futures.

Cute book... a little formulaic. I liked the plot as a concept very much, it just lacked a little originality in the execution. But there's something to be said for the predictable in a romance...

An interesting idea, but the story lines are glossed over and underdeveloped. This would have been a much better book if only one of the three women's story was told at a time. All the good guys are rich and handsome (yeah, really?) and all the bad ones are really bad. The extremes make this a little too predictable. The women are all doormats until their experience. There were a number of plot points glossed over which would have made for a richer experience, such as a courtroom battle we don't get to read, just a gloss over of the outcome. OK for a beach read, but if you are looking for depth, look elsewhere.

A fluff read about 3 women who want to rewrite their pasts. An enjoyably read, but not solid enough to be a keeper. Though I love this quote... "Still smiling she carried the TV through the doorway; then she gave it the strongest heave she could manage... When it hit Alan's oversized brick barbecue and the glass front of the TV smashed, Leslie didn't think she'd ever heard a more satisfying sound "

A change from my usual genre, and having no previous experience with Ms. Deveraux, I chose this book soley from the description. It was thoroughly enjoyable and really made me pause to wonder if I would alter the path my life has taken, if given the chance.

It is a very well written, page turning book that lets you see 3 women grow up and take the chance on themselves that maybe they didn't have the courage to do the first time around. Now, I am off to read "Return to Summerhouse"...

Happy Reading!

Jude Deveraux can wrap the reader up in her stories so that you care about the characters. This book is no exception. Three women who met briefly early in their adult lives, then went their seperate ways, have an opportunity to renew their friendship. One has become a very successful author and contacts the other two with the offer of a reunion. But that reunion turns out to include the chance to relive their lives. Will they take a different path, or the same one? Oh, so good!! This is a must read!!

Have you ever wanted to rewrite your past?

Three best friends, all with the same birthday, are about to turn forty. Celebrating at a summerhouse in Maine, Leslie Headrick, Madison Appleby, and Ellie Abbott are taking stock of their lives and loves, their wishes and choices. But none of them expect the gift that awaits them at the summerhouse: the chance for each of them to turn their "what-might-have-beens" into reality...

Leslie, a suburban wife and mother, follows the career of a boy who pursued her in college wonders: what if she had chosen differently? Madison dropped a modeling career to help her high school boyfriend recover from an accident, even though he'd jilted her. But what if she had said "no" when her old boyfriend had called? Ellie became a famous novelist, but a bitter divorce wiped out her earnings -- and shattered her belief in herself. Why had the "justice" system failed her? And could she prevent its happening the second time around?

Now, a mysterious "Madame Zoya," offers each of them a chance to relive any three weeks from the past. Will the road not taken prove a better path? Each woman will have to decide for herself as she follows the dream that got away...and each must choose the life that will truly satisfy the heart's deepest longings.

Three women on a flute meet find out in time that they were put together for a reason. For a christian type book a bit on the supernatural twist, which is something I do not believe in but all in all this is really a good read. Women can relate to these women in today's time. If you could go back and change your life and decide after three weeks if you want the life you already have or the life to begin again at that point, which would you choose. I applauded two of the women in the book and was a bit disappointed in the decision of the third. It is really a good read and I did have a hard time putting the book down. I was reading it before work, at lunch and missing my favortie TV shows to just read the book.

to all 3 women & couldnt wait to find out what happens to them. I thought the story was
wonderful, unbelievable & very insightful all at the same time. This book will really
give you something to think about. What would you do if you were given this chance of
a lifetime? To me, all 3 women made the right choice for the right reasons. Share this
book with a few of your good friends & then get together & talk about what you would all
do if given such a gift. Its fun!

Thought-provoking, entertaining, and downright delightful, Jude Deveraux\'s The Summerhouse deftly develops the individual stories of the three women in fascinating detail while maintaining the overall focus on the central tale. The ties of sisterhood and shared experience that bind the three resonate with depth and clarity--no wonder then that Deveraux is a perennial favorite with readers. There is little doubt that this volume will join her lengthy list of bestsellers

I don't usually read books of this genre, but I liked the premise of having an opportunity to go back to an earlier time, to redo a past mistake(s). And the author had received many favorable reviews. But the book was a disappointment. The writing was stilted and awkward - her words and sentences were without beauty or grace. Similarly, there was no subtlety in the way she discussed her characters. Everything was spelled out bluntly, as if she doesn't expect her readers to be bright enough to read between the lines. I will not be reading any of her other work.

Have you ever wanted to rewrite your past?

Three best friends, all with the same birthday, are about to turn forty. Celebrating this turning point at a summerhouse in Maine, Leslie Headrick, Madison Appleby and Ellie Abbott are taking stock of their lives, their loves and their choices. But none of them expects the gift that awaits the trio at the summerhouse: the chance for each of them to turn their "what-might-have-beens" into reality...when a mysterious "Madame Zoya" allows them to relive any three weeks from their pasts. Will the road not taken prove a better path? Each woman will have to decide for herself as she follows the dream that got away...
