This was my 2nd book, read one after the other, by Elin Hilderbrand. The other was "Barefoot." After reading that book, which was excellent, I was excited to read this one. I was disappointed though. I didn't like the book. The characters didn't interest me the way that they did in Barefoot. I think because this was one of her earlier books written, she hadn't developed as much as a writer as she did with later books like "Barefoot."

Very quick light read. I was able to read this over the weekend. It moves at a good pace and is surprisingly gritty.

I usually love Hilderbrand books for fun, light beach reading. This book was different. The tone was heavier, the characters were less likable, the whole thing was tedious and fell flat for me. I trudged through the first 3/4 of it until it finally got interesting.

Definitely a departure from her usual work.

I had heard of this popular author so thought I'd read one of her books. I wasn't disappointed. There were a few times during the story where I was expecting alittle more but at the end it made me tearup. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.

This is a good book with some troubled characters. I love this author, but I have to say this is not one of my favorites.
