I haven't read a lot of Quinn books and found this to be a light, page-turning delight. The hero is great - stoic, mathematical, wounded in body and soul. The heroine is selfish and a drama queen, but she starts to realize this about herself and her character improves throughout the story. The younger sisters are realistic. I would read another book by this author.

I don't really know how I want to rate this one. On the one hand, I really liked the story. Probably better than the others in this series. But on the other hand, it was a let down, as far as Julia Quinn's typically go. It was missing the massive amount of humor that I'm used to from her, especially in the series. I guess I'll go with a solid 3 stars, but I'm not satisfied.

Not up to her usual standards re the Bridgerton Saga. For those of us who have followed Ms. Quinn's tales of the Bridgerton family (& there were a lot of them!), she is now expanding her tales to friends & aquaintences of the Bridgerton family. This one was a dud. I personally could not stand the heroine - a spoiled, self-absorbed, loud-mouthed harridan of a drama queen. I could not understand how the hero even tolerated her, and all the author's machinations could not convince me that these two could fall in love in two weeks. Sorry, Ms. Quinn, but this one was a huge disappointment.

Julia Quinn gets better and better. (True Daniel's story wasn't that great?!) I really don't know how she does it. I find myself teary-eyed one minute and the next minute I am laughing out loud. I feel what the hero feels and I feel what the heroine feels. Maybe I just identified with these characters more than the last book? I don't think so...I was feeling the sunshine and the rain. Loved this book. I knew there was a 'happily ever after' coming, but at times I was in doubt. I just couldn't figure out how they were going to get there. Not only did this book have romance, but Ms. Quinn through in a mystery to keep me wondering if there was one or not. There is a mystery! No Spoiler here...read it and see if you get it!

Lady Sarah Pleinsworth wants nothing to do with Lord Hugh Prentice. She blames him for the duel that banished her cousin to France and the scandal that followed. Though her cousin is back and once again friends with Hugh, she has not forgiven him. But when her best friend asks Sarah to sit with Hugh at her wedding, how can she say no? Hugh believes Sarah to be a Drama Queen. But as he gets to know her, Hugh is drawn to Sarah. Yet he feels that this woman would never forgive him for the duel that ruined so many lives.

I love a good "enemies to lovers" theme. There is always great banter between the hero and the heroine. I liked Hugh. He did not fit into society well. He is the kind of guy who was not good at small talk, but very good at verbal sparring. Sarah was a little hard to take sometimes, coming off as selfish. But after her sister pointed it out, she seemed to try to change for the better.

I was let down by the last quarter of the story. The hero and heroine know what they want, but his father gets in the way. I thought the resolution was absurd which brought my rating down. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
