Excerpt: "The God of Creation," produced by the Moody Institute of Science, is a non-dramatic film using science as the cradle for its message. It provides an example of how an effective film can be produced without the use of dramatics. On the other hand, other producers make an extensive use of dramatic film. Such a man is C. O. Baptista of Scriptures Visualized Institute, who is noted for using an all-Christian cast, since he doubts God's blessing on the use of non-Christians. Producers, such as Cathedral, noting the scarcity of trained Christian talent, use professional actors. Still others require Christians for Christian parts. Nearly all agree that an all- Christian cast is ideal. Finally, the producer has to decide upon what to produce. What about the re-enacting of Bible stories? Although there is disagreement as to its use, this type of film -- rightly done -- has shown itself tremendously effective. All agree that if these stories are to be done, they ought to be done with the greatest attention to accuracy. There must be no cheapening or misrepresentation, for, quite possibly, the screen will furnish for many their sole contact with the Word of God. Actually there are limitless types of Christian films to be produced. Besides the Bible story there is the illustrated sermon, the illustrated lesson, the apologetic film, and the Christian news and promotion film.
