My three year old daughter loves the Strega Nona books. I'm always looking for books for her that feature strong, clever female characters (who aren't beautiful princesses for a change!). Strega Nona is a charming character, kind and wise, and the books are well-written and funny.

This is a wonderful book for children and the adults who read it to them. The illustrations are terrific, and the plot is simple enough for young children to understand. The best part? It's very funny, too.

Back of Book: "Never go near my magic cooking pot," warns old witch Strega Nona. But does Big Anthony listen? NO!

I Say: This retelling of an old Italian tale is enjoyable for everyone. Strega Nona has a lot to teach us about obedience and common sense.
