A Strange Scottish Shore by Juliana Gray is a mystery, adventure, and love story set in the Scottish highlands. In different ways, the book is reminiscent of Deanna Raybourn's Veronica Speedwell series and Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. This is the second book in the Emmeline Truelove series. Be aware that background from the first is needed to really understand the characters, relationships, and plot of this book. Reading this one alone is entertaining but feels incomplete without the background.
