A crazy, funny book about a girl who tries to avoid her ex-boyfriend, who is everything she doesn't want in a man....and yet, she can't seem to get him out of her system!
Typical Jennifer Crusie, warm and funny!

Another madcap romance from Crusie, this time chronicling what happens when a free-spirited young woman with hippie parents falls in love with an uptight lawyer. (Wait a minute -- was this 'Dharma and Geg'?)

Another one of Crusie's cute books! If you're looking for something to read for a quick read and a laugh this is the book for you.

Tess Newhart knows her exboyfriend Nick Jamieson isn't the right guy for her. He's caviar and champagne, she's take-out Chinese pot stickers. He's an uptight Republican lawyer, she was raised in a commune and thinks Cinderella is politically incorrect. He wants to get ahead in business, she just wants...him-only not the social-climbing Nick, but the sweet, caring, unbuttoned-down Nick.

And Nick wants her, too, but here's no way Tess is about to play second fiddle to his obsession to make partner. Yet somehow she finds herself agreeing to play his fiancée for a weekend business trip that could make or break Nick's career. And while he's wrapped up in convincing Tess that he needs her in his respectable world, Tess is doing her best to keep her left-wing opinions to herself and her hands off Nick.

Really made me LOL! I loved Tess' in your face attitude. No shy, naive, virgin here. I like the way she stands up to Nick's attempts to change her, especially her clothing (ie: ratty jacket, ratty sweats, etc...). The scene where she's giving "Park" a piece of her mind in Nick's office is just too funny! I thought Park was a strange name for a man, but it seems to work in this story. Hope everyone enjoys Strange Bedpersons as much as I did.

This is one of Crusie's older novels for Harlequin. As per publishers standards, this is very short and light. The conflict is wrapped up pretty quickly, but I love the characters and Crusie's breathless, gossipy writing style.

This is a very humorous book! 2 girls from the opposite side of the track of the lawyers boyfriends they are dating. I found it to be enjoyable and lite. : )

Crusie again displays her knack for writing snappy dialogue. She is a joy to read and the story itself was humorous. The ending was a bit sappy and predictable but I breezed thru this one in a very short while and enjoyed it.

From the back cover:

Nick is caviar and champagne, Tess is take-out Chinese pot stickers. H's an uptight Republican lawyer, she was raised in a commune and thinks Cinderella is politically incorrect.

Some how Tess finds herself agreeing to play Nick's fiancee for a weekend business trip that could make or break his career...now she just has to keep her left-wing opinions to herself and her hands off Nick.

I really, really wanted to like this book. It's well written, it's got Crusie's mix of fluff and depth and humor, what more can anyone ask?

But I just couldn't get close to the characters. Tess is a strident liberal who berates people for not living, dating and decorating the way she thinks they should, her love interest is almost eerily manipulative once she moves in with him (I mean, how many people are going to stay with a guy who throws away your stuff and then presents you with replacements he picked out?), and Norbert Welch is an absolute caricature of a conservative (whose motives for becoming as wholeheartedly conservative as he did make no sense to me. Trying to tiptoe around spoilers: I can see why he wouldn't be into pacifism, but why is he antifeminist if he turned away from pacifism because of a girl? And why the knee-jerk opposition to things that don't even relate to that epiphany?)

And these characters don't do much changing, either- Tess insists that Nick have wild public sex with her because she's annoyed that she had to make any sort of compromise, and Nick keeps throwing out Tess' clothes until the last chapter or so. They just didn't seem like people who wanted to grow with each other, much less grow old with each other. And maybe that means they deserve the chance to keep punishing each other, but... that isn't very romantic.
