As a big fan of Fleetwood Mac with friends in the online Fleetwood Mac fan community, I immediately dismissed this book as "another book with half truths written to make money off Fleetwood Mac". I admit that I bought the book just to have in my small collection of Fleetwood Mac books. However, as soon as this book was released, word started to get around the online Fleetwood Mac community quickly - this book was well-written and the stories jived with stories we'd heard over the years from reliable sources. I dove into the book as soon as it hit my front porch from Amazon.com.

First - Carol Ann Harris was Lindsey Buckingham's girlfriend for a number of years. She was his girlfriend right after he and Stevie Nicks broke up. Carol Ann lets you know right up front that she's made mistakes in her own life and details a few of these mistakes. She doesn't come off as "I was Lindsey's girlfriend and was the best thing since sliced bread." She comes off as a smart woman who was a loyal girlfriend to a moody, sometimes abusive musician. She also doesn't bash Stevie Nicks, which a lot of fans were happy about.

Carol Ann really fills in the blanks on some of the famous stories, and she doesn't dwell too long on any one incident or era. She moves along, giving us enough detail but not too much. Fleetwood Mac had many connections and friends - and Carol Ann tells interesting stories about Dennis Wilson, Eric Clapton, even the Manson family.

If you are a Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks fan or just like books about musicians, I highly recommend this book. Carol Ann Harris has earned a nice little chunk of respect in the Fleetwood Mac fan community for giving this well-written, truthful book.
