Good read although it starts a little slowly; there was a lot of background to cover! There were also a number of characters to introduce [one of whom is Aleksander Wilder - the baby in the Darkness Chosen series] - I would assume each of the 'Chosen Ones' will eventually get their own books.

Jacqueline and Caleb, the heroine and hero, have a long history. Their chemistry is explosive but she blames him for always doing what her mother tells him to do [he's her head of security and chief bodyguard]. This makes her angry - in fact she spends most of the book angry at her mother, Caleb, and circumstances. The circumstances consist of a group of 'Chosen Ones' - most of whom did not want to be chosen - who are stranded almost totally without mentors when the building they were in is blown up by the bad guys. Needless to say, the Chosen are at the top of the bad guys' hit list...

2. Storm of Shadows (2009)
and more to come I'm sure...

The Chosen? More like the scooby-doo gang. There is nothing serious about this story. I read the Darkness chosen series that preceded this series, and it was much better. The characters are underdeveloped and at times silly. The love story between Jacqueline and Caleb is cute, but nothing more. The book never truly gets into the heart of the basis for the story. Which of course is good vs. evil. But it lacked that spark that makes you want to rush out and get the next book. Not a "must read", just a Sunday on the sofa kinda read. But with that said, i will read the next in the series.

I really liked this book. It starts off really steamy to get your interest. I like the young and old characters. It gives just enough history in the beginning without making you feel you don't know how everything started. Ultimate good vs. evil. It has just enough sexual tension to make you want to read more and see the outcome. Interesting suspense and mystery book. Christina Dodd did a great job!! I have ordered the next in the series and am really interested in reading..

Compared to the Darkness Chosen series, this is a real bust. The characters never really catch on and most of the book is the introduction of the rest of the people. It doesn't feel like much of a romance and a lot of questions about their past remain unanswered. Disappointing.

I have read some mixed reviews for this series, but I have to say I loved it! I read without wanting to stop. There are a lot of characters and that does take away a little from the love story between Caleb and Jacqueline it's not as intense as the stories in ther Darkness Chosen series but still really good!!

I have not enjoyed the Darkness Chosen series and was looking forward to this one. I found this book kept me captivated the entire time.

I guess that because so much of the book was spent on the Chosen Ones and the battle between good and evil, I found myself becoming much more interested in that part of the plot than the love story. By the end I was really wondering what was going to happen in the next book in the series. If your expectations for the romance are not too high, you will like it. However, if you are thinking of reading this because you are a fan of the author's historical romances but don't much like paranormal stories, you may
want to skip it.

In my opinion the author effectively interlaces some stirring romantic elements within a dynamic paranormal storyline for an altogether winning first installment.
