If you love the Amish fiction from the other big author but have read all her books, this is a good second. I read this book very quickly as it held my interest and I really did enjoy the characters. Really anything Amish will interest me. If you come from a childhood where you were not loved by your father, the way the relationship ends between a father and daughter in the story may help heal you; or may just really upset you even more. Also, if you grew up with a lot of younger siblings you will relate to this book well, regardless of your beliefs.

Time appears to stand still in Naomi Fisher's Pennyslvania Amish community...But she's running out of time to correct a terrible mistake. Naomi was content with her life until her mother died in an accident, her somber father needed her to tend the family store every day... until her "English" friend showed her how confining her life had become. Then her heart started to long for romance.

I like reading different writers of "Amish" fiction, and this was my first try for W. Brunstetter. The story was interesting and jumped right into the story. I enjoyed it though I could predict what was going to happen a couple of times. Not a bad read, but not the best read.

When Naomi turns her back on one basic duty, the uknthinkable happens-and now she feels unworthy to accomplish anything set before her. How can she escape the weight on her spirit that paralyzes her emotions? Is there any redemption for such a failure?
Excellent reading. Very good book from beginning to end.

A very good book about a young Amish woman facing life and adulthood after the death of her mother. Her faith is tested when her baby brother is kidnapped. While parts of the book seemed somewhat unlikely to me, it was still a nice read. I look forward to the next two books in the series.

Wonderful book. Very touching story. Great character development that really makes you care about the characters and want to follow them through the series. I've also read "The Quilter's Daughter", and now I just went out and bought the newest one, "The Bishop's Daughter". I'm definately hooked.

I love stories about the Amish culture. Was easy to slip into the setting and take part in all the family give or take. Very similar style to Beverly Lewis. Look forward to the next installment.

Book 1 in the Daughters of Lancaster County, a great series about the Amish.

Time seems to stand still in Naomi Fisher's tranquil community, but it cannot hold back tragedy. Helping her widowed father run a store, manage a household, and raise seven children is a daunting task. There is no time to think about courtship or having her own family, though her heart yearns for the attention of Caleb Hoffmeir. But her days are plotted for her-until the afternoon her baby brother disappears from the yard. How can Naomi expect anyone to love and trust her if she can't take care of one small boy? Should she leave all that is familiar and seek a new avenue of life?
