Bill Smith, weary New York Private Eye retreats to his cozy cabin in upstate New York to let nature heal him, but he's drawn into a major robbery involving a well-known painter, and a murder involving a close friend and he gives in and takes the case, calling in his partner Lydia Chin to help him. The plot is great, the characters better...a great read.

Bill and Lydia Chin are wonderfully developed characters. The stories, in fact, are more about the characters than the crimes the work with. Highly recommend.
I found this series through PBS and have been reading the various books, as they become available. I find it a fascinating insight into Chinese culture, blended with her work with her native born partner. There is depth to the story-line and no need to read each book in numerical order, as written. Each holds enough to follow the theme of the story as it unfolds in the story at hand. I can't praise this book and it's author enough....
