I couldn't get past the 4th chapter of this book. I'm totally willing to buy into the fantasy of the hunky-hero-comes-to-life .. but once he did, I wanted him back in statue form.

His treatment of the heroine was such a turn off for me, that I couldn't continue the book, therefore the one star.

woman is drawn to statue and kisses him. statue comes alive, but has only 2 weeks to make her fall in love with him or he becomes statue again...permanently.
it was a good, light-hearted story, but i liked 'pleasure slave' and 'jewel of atlantis' better.

Katie kisses her "Stone Prince" and he comes to life as Jorlan en Sarr from another planet. Getting him home isn't as easy as they would like. Can Jorlan make Katie fall in love with him? Can they fight against his brother for a future together? And in the end will either one of them be willing to stay on the others planet? Read on.

I have mixed feelings about Showalter. I started out liking this one, but half way through stopped. Original ideas, well-written, lots of sexual tension. Just getting too long.

Despite the fact that my finance gave me a look that clearly read: "you are insane to be reading that dribble voluntarily!" I actually quite enjoyed this book.

I admit, it was exceptionally cheesy, but I go in for that sort of thing every now and then so it was a good mindless-no-thinky-book! Fun fun!

What is a girl to do when the statue that she just kissed in her own garden becomes to life? Fall in love, of course. Great read.

While this is not my favorite Showalter, it was a enjoyable lazy day at the beach read or rainy sunday read. Not much depth but a descriptive enough to escape into.

Fun story! I love all of Gena Showalter's books.

Lighthearted and a bit fluffy, if you're used to Showalter's Lords of the Underworld or Alien Huntress series (which I love), you may find these aren't to your taste. This book and the other Imperia novel (The Pleasure Slave) are more straightforward girl-find-alpha-male-of-her-dreams/guy-learns-women-have-brains romances. A fun beach read but if you're hoping to get all caught up in the characters' motivations and their complicated lives, there's less to savor here.

I would never diss an author for their early books, and clearly the Imperia novels are evidence of Showalter working out what she wants to write about - while giving readers an amusing read, just not as compelling by comparison to her later novels.

Not one of Showalter's best but still fun. The second book (Pleasure Slave) was better. The beginning was slow but it gets better towards the end. I think I was more interested in Percen and Heather's story. My favorite things about it was the scenes with Kate's brothers. Very light-hearted.

But her luck changes when the statue warms to life in her arms and turns out to be a hunk straight out of any woman's fantasy! Well, almost. . .Jorlan en Sarr hails from a distant planet like all the other men Katie's known, he comes with a lot of baggage.

A cursed warrior with a lover's magic touch. . .

Entombed in his stony skin for centuries, Jorlan has been waiting for a maiden fair to break the spell. Yet this statuesque beauty with the will of an Amazon and kisses like flame is a far cry from the obedient damsels of Imperia. And she'll be lost to him forever.
