Lincoln Rhyme must capture "the Ghost"...a killer in Chinatown..very ruthless. Rhyme's and his protege must find the next victims before the Ghost can silence them, but he seems to be one or two steps ahead of them at every turn. Very "fun" read.

I've loved all three Lincoln Rhyme books so far, but this 4th installment is by far the best. It's edge of your seat, true, but it is also filled with really real characters that are fully developed (you even know the bad guy's past and it's actually painful to read) and there is a bit more emotion. There are points that are truly heartbreaking, and also there is more humor in Stone Monkey.

Highly recommend not only for Deaver fans, but for all mystery/thriller fans.

This is the fourth "Rhyme" book I have read, and I am solidly hooked! Even though I am expecting a twist, he always manages to throw one in I don't see coming. Awesome! Great insight also into Chinese culture.

Another excellent crime novel by Deaver. These Lincoln Rhyme books could be used as police procedurals in some of his cases and this one , with so little to go on, would be an excellent teaching book. Great book!

Lincoln Rhyme, paralyzed crime scene analyst Extraordinary, is up to his neck in murders.
There is a Snakehead(a human trafficker that smuggles aliens into the country from China) that is not content just to earn the huge dollars from smuggling his customers into the U.S.
Once he collects his fees he then is compelled to murder them all including the crews of the ships he is on.
But no one knows what he looks like or his real name so Law Enforcement round the world has nicknamed the murderer "The Ghost".
It seems this Snakehead is always a step ahead of Lincoln .
The excitement is non stop, the tension mounts. And I found the background information on the Chinese people and their culture here in the U.S. fascinating.
This was a terrific read.

I'm a seasoned suspense/mystery reader, and some of the twists in this book even caught me by surprise. This is a fast-moving page turner with excellent character development. The writing style brings you right into the setting and action. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Simply put, Jeffery Deaver is one of the best suspense novelist writing today. No other author can match his plot twists or attention to intricate detail. Best of all, he seems to be improving with each novel he writes, particularly with his Lincoln Rhyme series of books. The Stone Monkey is no exception.
The Stone Monkey is the fourth book in the Lincoln Rhyme - Amelia Sachs series (the others are, in order, The Bone Collector, The Coffin Dancer, and the Empty Chair). Rhyme is a quadriplegic and a famous forensic scientist. His partner, Sachs, is a redhead who acts as Rhyme's legs, 'walking the grid' at crime scenes. Together, they make a formidable crime fighting team.

The Stone Monkey picks up with the Coast Guard closing in on a ship filled with illegal immigrants trying to enter the US. Rhyme has found the ship and the police are trying to apprehend the notorious human smuggler known as the ghost. After blowing up the ship and killing most of the passengers, the Ghost escapes. Rhyme must find him before he kills the two familes that survived.

From this point, the plot rides like a roller coaster. The trademark Deaver twist are present and nothing is as it seems. The characters are well developed and interesting. Sonny Li makes a great addition to the team and provides some comedic relief. As readers have come to expect from Deaver, the ending is great as well.

Highly recommended to fans of Jeffery Deaver, James Patterson, John Sandford, and anyone else looking for a suspenseful thriller.

This was an excellent book. (#4 in the Lincoln Rhyme Series) This was about The Ghost (snakehead). He was smuggling Chinese immigrants to the US. The Coastguard was coming to board the boat so he blew it up. 2 Families survived. The Ghost went on the mission to find them. Lincoln and Amelia were trying to get there first. This book had a lot of interesting information on the Chinese, Chinatown in NY etc. I enjoyed reading about the friendship that developed between Lincoln and Sonny Li. Lincoln is finally loosening up. This was very well written. I even liked the end!

Another book dealing with forensics expert Licoln Rhyme and his protege/girlfriend Amelia Sachs.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did Deaver's other books that feature these characters. It was easy to get lost in the plot and setting (China and Chinatown). However, if you really like Jeffrey Deaver or international suspense, this might be the book for you.

Lincoln Rhyme and his team are on the trail of a hunan smuggler after a shipload of illegal Chinese immigrants is scuttled to avoid capture. As always with Lincoln Rhyme mysteries, many of the characters aren't who you think you are, and the end isn't always the end.
