I hate to say this, but I think this is my least favorite book in the Benni Harper series. It was just so sad! There were two main story lines going and both were very sad, I felt. This is still my favorite author and I look forward to reading the rest in the series.
Very good book in the adventures of Benni and her new husband, Gabe. Someone from the past comes back to "haunt" Gabe and Benni ends up questioning their marriage.

Benni and Gabe's marriage is threatened like no previous time. While Benni tries to keep her mind off Del (Gabe's beautiful previous partner), she investigates the history of an old murder. Both stories are beautifully told.
If you like quilt tops, then this is a book for you. Not much is discussed about quilting, but there is some.

This series gets better and better with every book I read. I am so curious as to how the characters are developing from one book to the next. And each story she writes is so different from the last one. Great book. I highly recommend it. I suggest reading them in order. Such fun!

I've read all her books, and this one is a little different. Benni is going to solve an old murder. Problems in paradise also....a good read!

Very good, different, a closed case type mystery. Sad in places, wonderous in others. Dove is a nut, can't wait to see how things end up for her and Isaac. She is a true, "bonifide" character. I love her.
Wedding bells ring for Benni Harper-times two. And as if that wasn't enough, she finds herself in the midst of a murder mystery that began in the 1940s-and still has townsfolk nervous today.
One of her best! Murder, love triangles and lots of twists and still an easy read.

I am a real fan of this series, and not just because I quilt. The author packs a lot of story into each book and I really get drawn into the relationship between the main character and her husband. It's not just a picture-perfect, happily-ever-after story. This book was particularly good and made me cry a little but was a terrific read.
Awesome book. :) I loved that things are finally moving along with marriages.

The Benni Harper series is not only fantastic mysteries, but there's a little romance thrown in as well. And if you love quilting, this series is perfect for you!
Earlene Fowler does a magnificent job developing the characters of her "Benni Harper" novels. While the mystery takes action, the characters' hearts and minds get unraveled for the reader. From book to book, each of the main characters, and primarily Benni Harper, not only develop but learn and grow as people living with and loving the others around them. Earlene Fowler does not write a "canned" novel, one cut like a cookie from a recipe, but she writes engaging stories about people in the midst of a mystery. The mysteries themselves are also intriguing, creative, well-detailed, and full of surprising little twists. Earlene Fowler does a fantastic job weaving together the themes of different events taking place in the story with the main theme of the story, including symbolism and other creative ploys that are masterfully layered together like a tapestry...or a quilt! Of all the series' books I've read so far, one by one in a row, I have liked this one the best. It is beautifully written with the deepening of Benni's love for Gabe and the strengthening of their marriage despite nearly ending being the final victory of "Steps to the Altar".
This is another of Fowler's (mostly) light-hearted Benni Harper mysteries. As usual, Benni is up to her ears in community activities when she's not working on her quilts or working at the Historical Society museum. No, perhaps she's up to her NOSE instead of her ears. Yet she can't resist sticking that same nose into more mysterious goings on when odd events occur in her neighborhood.
