Written by an antiques appraiser about a antiques appraiser. A writer of great wit and a grand sense of the mystery hidden in our most treasured possessions. A lot of good information about antiques all wrapped up in a good mystery.

To me, this book was a so-so. It took me a long time to get into it; there seemed to be plot lines that were disconnected, alot of information about antiques thrown in, and a sense that this really wasn't the first book, like there should have been one before to introduce the main characters better. The main characters just kind of sit there and you don't learn much about them. Not much development. By the middle of the book I was mildly interested and things were starting to make sense, though I almost pitched it several times before I got to the "ok, this is interesting" point. I have the second book in the series and will read it, but if it isn't much better than this one.............
