I enjoyed this a great deal. The characters are played somewhat against type. She's a mechanic, he's an architect. I'm not a big fan of teeny tiny heroines but I just ignored that most of the time. He was the clincher though. Not a total alpha hero, but he was just so funny the way he'd get engrossed in his work and forget everything including dates. I like how the author showed her ability to work a story outside the traditional box with the way the heroine accepted this about him and found ways to work around it. I'm not a big historical fan, but I'll read Ms. Dahl's contemporaries.

The story of a woman that was thrown some curves after she started college. Now that she no longer has the ties to her home town of Tumble Creek why is she still stuck there instead of moving on with her life. Enter Quinn Jennings that opens up her world.

I first discovered Victoria Dahl when I purchased "A Rake's Guide to Pleasure." (Sorry, I decided not to post it, but put it on my Keeper shelf.) Wow, it was so sexy and funny, I immediately knew I had to read ANYTHING else I could find by this new author; I have not been disappointed.
This is my fourth Dahl book and I've got another on my Wish List. She is now one of my three most favorite authors. I enjoy an interesting storyline with plenty of humor and great romance. Victoria Dahl delivers all of the above every time. I'm tickled that she is such a young writer because it means we will have many opportunities to enjoy her writing in the coming years.

This is the first book I've read by Dahl, and it didn't disappoint. Witty dialogue, smart characters, it was a great read and I couldn't put it down. I liked that Lori was not your typical heroine and Quinn wasn't perfect, and that the ending was good without being entirely HEA. I also appreciated how she brought back characters (Molly and Ben) from the first book in the series and they played a solid role as supporting characters. This book is definitely on my keeper list, and I can't wait to read Talk Me Down!

I loved this book, such a great writer, very funny and sexy.
Just discovered this author & will have to look for more of her books. Loved the story, very well written. Romance plus chuckles.
One word FUN!
Everyone of the Dahl books are winners. This is by far at the top. Sexy, funny, and a great read.
Fun book to read!
After reading "Talk Me Down" I thought I was going to love this book. I mean, what is there not to love? Lori was such a cool character in "Talk Me Down." Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. It's ironic because Molly (from "Talk Me Down)is usally someone I would love to hate but I ended up adoring her (even in this book I was hoping to catch more glimpses of her). Lori is everything I would love in a character but I ended up not liking her very much.
The book itself was okay. There are some steamy scenes and I do like the chemistry between Quinn (Molly's brother) and Lori. There was that little bit of mystery thrown in and it was fun. It can be a standalone book so you don't really have to read the first one if you don't want to. Overall though I found it too similar to "Talk Me Down" in themes. (In fact, the third book also have the theme of girl wants a fling but it turns into something more). So it was a little bit of a disappointment for me in that aspect because I wanted something a little different.
As for the characters I found Quinn absolutely adorable even though he wasn't a high handed alpha. He kept my interst in the book. Lori's self-esteem (I'm not good enough for him attitude) was overdone. I don't mind a little bit of it but it was nonstop. It made me want to scream, "GET OVER IT!" at her.
It was a funny book and decent enough to read but it didn't dazzle me like the first one.

Very charming and entertaining book..Laugh out Loud type of of book..good for a relaxing on a raining day :-)
Victoria Dahl is a master of the hot romance... so erotic without losing the wit and charm of a romance. I find myself blushing one minute and then laughing out loud the next. The characters are engaging and realistic and the decisions they make are honest and truthful for the place and time. I am not usually a huge fan of most of this genre, but Ms. Dahl has made me look a little harder for the gems.
Her Tumble Creek series is a wonderful glimpse into the secret lives of a few of the locals. I only wish a real place this cool existed!
