This is the second book in the Evernight series. There are supposed to be four books in the series. This book was much like the first book for me. If you liked the first book you will like this one. It is beautifully written, the first part is kind of boring and nothing happens, and then the last few chapters are so packed with action it's amazing.

Bianca is returning to school after a grueling summer separated from Lucas. Upon returning to school she finds out that she is being haunted by wraiths. Much of the story deals with Bianca trying to get away from campus to secretly meet with Lucas. Balthazar is also in the story a lot.

The pacing of this book matched the first book. It is pretty darn boring for the first two thirds. A lot of teenage angsting going on as Bianca feels sorry for herself because she can't be with Lucas. The wraith hauntings happen at wide intervals and are the only interesting thing in the beginning of the book. The end of the book however is packed with so many revelations and action scenes that it leaves you dizzy.

This whole series has been much more well-written than the House of the Night series by PC and Kirsten Cast. Unfortunately the pacing is such that I find these books to be pretty dull. I don't really think Bianca is the most inspriing character either.

The end of the book is fantastic and almost makes up for the slow beginning. The end was enough to make me want to know what happens in the next book. This book was definitely a transition novel that builds to the next book. This book is definitely not a stand alone; you need to read Evernight first. Also this book doesn't resolve much at all; so for any resolution you'll have to hang around for the next book "Hourglass".

So much better than Evernight! There are twists and turns that keep you guessing and the story flows nicely. I picked this book up and did nothing else till it was finished and still wanted more!

As her second year at Evernight Academy begins, Bianca wants nothing more than to see her boyfriend, Lucas, again. But the distance between them - she the daughter of two vampires, he a trained vampire hunter - makes her wonder if they'll ever be together.

So when Lucas manages to get a message to her, arranging to meet in secret, she's willing to do anything to make that happen. Even if it means sneaking around the school trying to discover the secret Lucas's family so desperately wants to discover. Even if it means pretending to date Balthazar, Lucas's rival, as an excuse to leave school grounds.

As if all that didn't complicate her life enough, Bianca realizes there's something scarier than vampires lurking within Evernight's walls. Something that has a particular interest in her. Soon, Bianca finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew: about vampires, about her love for Lucas, and about who and what she really is.

Fans of EVERNIGHT will be delighted with this sequel, which offers the same passionate romance and Gothic mystery as the first book, combined with intriguing new characters and conflicts. Bianca continues to struggle to take control of her destiny, balancing strength and vulnerability. Supporting characters like Balthazar and Raquel, Bianca's human friend, reveal more of their complex histories.

Readers may find that, for everything that happens, rather little is resolved, but that will only make them all the more eager for the third volume of this intense and suspenseful series.

I really remember loving "Evernight", the first book in this series; however, this one was a disappointment to me. Maybe it had been too long since reading the first, and perhaps I no longer felt the connection to the characters, but this one came across as a bit childish and silly. The end certainly left room for another book, but I don't think I'll be rushing to buy it.

Angry...that is my feeling after finishing this book. I LOVED Evernight. It was an amazing book, and this was a great book as well, but I am not at all happy with what Claudia Gray has done. What are you doing?? You know what you are and you need to STOP IT! This is not the way Bianca needs to go. You need to fix it for the next book. Make the madness stop Claudia. I dont care what Bianca thinks she wants, it isnt right. You know it! I will hopefully see something different in the next book.
