I'm a woman and I thought it was pretty funny...it's a bit offensive at times but anyone with a good sense of humor will absolutely love it!... Tim Allen gives insight into his own life while treating the reader like just another guy working on the car telling stories. It's not a serious work, and Tim Allen isn't promoting the degradation of women. He's simply telling jokes that many men in our society relate to.

I liked this book. I thought it was pretty funny at times. His humor was different than in his show. In the book he was more crude. In addition to being funny, he also provides some personal insight into how he really is.

Tim Allen takes you through rites of passage, from fixing up his banana-seat Stringray to his earliest moment of sexual awaremess, which occurred when he saw his first Playboy pinup, and realized that every woman is naked underneath her clothes. He ponders such questions as why women are always "chilly," when men are burning up; why men don't micd being called pigs; why women can't understand what men do in the garage all morning. There are hilarious meditations on everything form butt cracks to why men lie, to why women think they're always right.

From Booklist
This is another differences-between-the-sexes-har-har book, and we can't get enough of those, can we? Its advantage vis-{}a-vis the others is that it is written by Allen more or less in the persona of his character in the TV sitcom, Home Improvement. Unfortunately, it is to a large degree an extended routine that Allen does very well but that features nothing new or really insightful. Such an Allen insight as "It's a man's place to pretend something doesn't hurt" typifies the tenor here, as does the extremely brief chapter "The Secrets Men Never Tell Women," which consists of a single throwaway punch line. As comedy, this has the disadvantage of being static and scripted; as literature, the disadvantage of covering familiar territory familiarly. Oh, it's still funny but probably considerably more so to fans of Allen and his popular TV show than to other readers. In the introduction to this book, Allen tells us that he has NO idea what the title of this book means, "but [he] knew it was a winner when the mere mention of [the title] made several people shoot pricey mineral water through their noses."

If you find that funny, I think you will appreciate this book, the main topic of which happens to be (funny) stereotypes of men and women as well as a bunch of stuff about tools (although I did find the chapter about dicks pretty interesting).

Just for your information -- if you do not enjoy crude humor, do not order this book.

That being said, I enjoyed it as a quick read, but there were not any "laugh out loud" parts for me.

I loved this book. Funny and wise at the same time. He listed a lot of stereotypes and cliches which in all actuality are true.

Hilarious and light hearted. A fun look at men and the way they think. Tim Allen shares some memories with us in his own easy-going comedy style. I loved it and read it all in one day, as I couldn't put it down. However, don't get the book if you are offended by the word 'penis' because he uses it alot.

This book made me laugh out loud! I loved his stories of growing up, having kids, and dealing with marriage. I was very disappointed after finding out he had divorced the woman he was with in this book since he had so many insightful veiws into making marriage work... hmmm...

Humor book, autobiography, explanation why men are different from women -- Tim Allen at his best.

Tim Allen brings his comedy style from Home Improvement to this book. There were many times I found myself imagining his classic grunt after a short rant about men things, or when he describes the perfect man's bathroom. I did find much of the book to be more simple ramblings of stereotypical male roles and ideas. It was an enjoyable read and I would suggest this book to a friend.

Very funny book, reads like one of his stand up comic routines. Sometimes (but rarely) serious, sometimes (a lot) crude. All men will be able to relate to his wit and jokes. Women will get an inside look into what men think. Don't take anything in the book seriously and you'll enjoy a good laugh. The chapters on the Playboy magazine enlightenment are just down right hilarious.

Tim Allen is a comic who's a guy's guy. The star of ABC's Home Improvement, Tim Allen has written the naked truth about his outlook on life, love, and lathes. It is a fun read with some laugh-out-loud parts. There are some serious essays included. I enjoyed getting to "know" Tim Allen a little better.

Stand-up comic Tim Allen extends his guys-n-gals schtick to the printed page, noting with humor some of the differences between men and women, men and boys, and man and daddies.
