Squire Throwleigh has just died, within days his five year old son is murdered. The investigation into his death takes many twists and turns. I love these medieval mysteries. I always think I know who is the murderer, but I'm never right.
Michael Jecks has a number of incredible books, set in the Middle Ages. This is the seventh of the series. The 2 main characters, Sir Baldwin and Bailiff Simon Puttock. Well worth reading!
Sir Baldwin Furnshill (just married) and his friend Simon Puttock must find the murderer of the son of recently deceased Squire Throwleigh. It is marked up as accident, as he was hit by a cart, but one of the servants of the castle insist that the pair investigate.
I found it a very good read, but the whole series is wonderful
I enjoy Jecks' medieval mysteries as a change of pace. They evoke a slower paced life, but richly portray the human nature common to all eras. Characters are interesting and the plots are well constructed.
