Another great convoluted mystery! I have to admit that I might be slightly biased in my review as this is one of the few stories in which I guessed the murderer quite a ways from the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed this 5th volume of the series. Fidelma and Eadulf are once more paired together as she is asked by her brother King Colgu to investigate the murder of a small-town Celtic chieftain. What they discover is a nasty web of lies that the murderer seems determined to cover up as her investigation brings more evil to light, and the bodies alarmingly start to pile up. I find that the more books I read of this series, the more I am becoming attached to the characters.

An excellent series which stays true to its historical era. 666 A.D., a deaf-mute is accused of killing a local chieftain. Sister Fidelma, both a Celtic Christian Nun and an Advocate of the Brehon courts, sets out to prove him innocent and find the real killer.

If you like Irish history with an emphasis on Irish Christians, along with a heaping, helping of mystery, you will love this book. Sister Fidelma is still doing her thing in grand style.
