Very difficult to review this awesome book without spoilers. The title sais it all: "Revenge" is made against Mab Monroe, the fire elemental that killed Gins family. This book has non-stop action written all over it, and could have easily wrapped up the series. It will be interesting to see where Gin's life goes from here, now that her enemy is finally eliminated.

Not like the first 4 books. Lots of fighting, and not much character/story building. Based on the first four books, I plan to read the next book, but if I had started with this book that would not have happened. And if you are a new reader to the series, please don't base the series on this book! Read the first four, and enjoy!!!

This is the fifth book in the Elemental Assassins series by Estep. The 6th book will be titled, By a Thread, and is scheduled for a Feb 2012 release. The 7th book will be titled, Widow's Web, and is scheduled for a August 2012 release. This book was a good read but I didn't like it quite as much as the previous couple books. There was a bit too much recapping of the previous books and that got tedious as times.

The showdown between Mab and Gin has been a long time coming. When Gin takes a go at Mab by herself and botches it she's in big trouble. Now whole team (Finn, Owen, Bria, the dwarve sisters and others) will have to give Gin a hand in taking out the biggest meanie the city has ever known, Mab herself. When Mab calls in a bunch of hit men to take out Bria and Gin things get even crazier.

There is an absolutely terrific urban fantasy series. It is fast paced, has some great humor, some excellent action scenes, and some wonderful characters. The system of Elemental magic is interesting and fun to read about.

Gin is a wonderful character; she is snarky, tough, and loyal. Owen is a great compliment to her; he is caring, steadfast, and tough in his own right. The witty dialogue between the two is lots of fun to read about.

Finn and Bria also get a lot of development as characters in this story. We get to see a sensitive side of Finn that we've never seen before. We get to learn a lot more about Bria and it was awesome to see her and Gin working together.

This book finally wraps up the whole Mab versus Gin storyline. The final standoff between the two is just as wonderful and fabulous as I hoped it would be. The story wraps up wonderfully, leaving me wondering what will happen next for Gin.

The only thing that really bothered me was the constant recapping of the previous books. I understand that Estep wants to put enough info from previous books in here that it can stand on its own. What I don't understand is why? Information from the previous books is presented over and over again, to the point where it got very tedious to read parts of this book. I know all of the books in this series have had a bit of this and I like a bit to jog my memory. In this book though there was so much recapping of the previous books that it was actually distracting and it messed up the pace of the stoyr.

Overall a must read for fans of the series. If you love urban fantasy you have got to read this series. We finally get to see the outcome of the whole Mab versus Gin storyline and it was as wonderful as I had hoped. The characters are excellent, the magic system unique, and the action captivating. The only thing that really took away from the series was the constant inserting of info from previous books. The level of this recapping was excessive and made the story drag at points. Still, if you love urban fantasy you have got to check out this series...it is a fantastic one!

I have really enjoyed this elemental assassin series of books that are generally well written. Book 5 is just not as good as the others because of it's predictability. I am so jaded that I seem to only enjoy reading a book when the author keeps me surprised with the direction of the story, and the back of the book sums up the entire story, so really it was a yawn. She would have been a better storyteller if she'd developed other characters more and I hope this is the last of this series because I think Estep is bored.

This is a fun series, although there is a lot of repetition. I enjoy it though so that, in the end, is what keeps me coming back. If you have read the others, you have to read this!

Here it isthe final showdown with Mab Monroe. Gin has been waiting for this moment since she was thirteen and her family was slaughtered by Mab. Us readers have been waiting anxiously for this moment too! She has trained relentlessly and owes it to everyone she loves to end Mabs life. But, one thing is different. Gin is not the same hard core assassin. She has softened and it is affecting her job. She misses her target. Thats right, Gin misses killing Mab with her crossbow and now Mab knows who she is and who her loved ones are. Gin and Owen work together to get everyone to safety but they know that they dont have long. Mab has put a bounty on Gin and Brias head and every bounty hunter and assassin has gathered to claim them. One pair of assassins, Gentry and Sydney, reminds Gin of herself and Fletcher. When she is cornered by them Gin gets the upper hand but decides to let them go hoping that she doesnt regret it. When Gentry kidnaps Bria, Gin regrets her decision but hopes deep down that Bria wont be harmed before Gin can get to her.

Own and Gins relationship is truly tested in Spiders Revenge. Gin comes to terms with the fact that someone can actually love her even with her alternate career and lifestyle. She also learns that what she does affects everyone that she knows and there are consequences for some of her actions. Bria is also coming to terms with what her older sister has is but the family bond is strong and she accepts it. Finn seems to be slowing down on the skirt chasing because he has an eye for Bria but Bria will have nothing to do with him.

I will stop there with everything because I dont want to give away many details of the book. It is non-stop action as always. Right away in the beginning we are thrown into Gins attempt on Mab and everything rolls from there. All Esteps characters have evolved and I am curious to see what direction the next installment will take. I really enjoyed getting to know Sophia more. Here story is finally recounted and you just break inside for her! And of course it wouldnt be an Elemental Assassin book if you didnt add in a brownie recipe that made my mouth water. If you havent read this series yet, you should.
