The first part of the story is one long series of character set-up of the protagonist, Izzy Spellman, and her highly eccentric family of professional investigators. There's honestly not a lot of "plot" as such, but the novel becomes much more focused during the second half. I'm looking forward to the sequel due out next year.

This a great debut of what I hope will be many more books to follow. The Spellmans are a family of private investigators living in San Francisco. The characters are zany, but almost believable; the adventures are fun; and the writing snappy. You'll love Izzy and her kid sister who tags along on her cases. The theft and ransome of Uncle Ray's lucky shirt is great. And the invocation of "Section 5, clause (d)" of the family contract is nothing less than hysterical. READ THIS!!!!!!!!
