A great children's book that is entertaining, yet provides a good moral that each child is unique and needs only to find the worth within themselves instead of seeking the approval of others.
Possibly one of the most wonderful children's books ever written, a book that can teach adults as they are reading to their children. When I was going through a personal crisis, my sister sent this to me with sticky notes all over it, proving what a great book it is for adults as well who need to be reassured of their specialness.
EXCELLENT book! I read it to my four year old- the deeper meaning was a little over her head but she still enjoyed it, I will definitely be giving this as a gift to my older niece (7 years old) this Christmas :)
AWESOME book about thinking positively about yourself, and a great message about how to re-frame what others think about you (instead of taking negative comments and labels given by others personally). If you are a Christian, you will love the message this book offers about a person's relationship with the Creator! But even if you're not a Christian, that message isn't blantantly obvious, it's still a great book about self-esteem and great way to think about others that bully.
I buy every hardcover copy of this book I can find. I make sure every grandchild has a copy of their own. I have given it as a birthday gift to people of all ages, as a graduation gift, as a baby shower or new baby gift...basically any time I feel that someone I know does not understand how special they are, how unique, how lovingly they were created and chosen. If you seem to care too much about what "they" think, then you need to read this book, memorize it, get it into your heart.
This book is a WONDERFUL, INSPIRING tool that will help to instill an understanding of what and who God is to us. It is a heart-warming tale of an adorable little wooden-person who faces the "judgement of others" - and overcomes his own self-doubt by "meeting with his maker", so to speak.
While this is a children's book (and my 4-yr-old has me read it every day), it deeply moved me as well.
