An interesting aspect of the Spanish-American War was the fact that after the Spaniards left the colonies (they no longer owned) and spent their money at home; it caused a revitalizing effect on Spanish culture and increased technological modernization in the Mother country.
This book makes a point of highlighting the fact that 'this splendid little war' united the North and South against a common enemy -- Spain. The author even mentioned that (former Confederate) soldiers were active in the war.
I liked the fact that this book spent at least half of the booklet explaining the results and repercussions of the 10-week war. It explained the consequences for the US, Spain, Cuba, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam in 5 chapters. I now understand why we still have Guantanamo Bay.
