I really admire Rachel Vincent's writing style, but this book wasn't her best work. It was good and worth the read, but not as good as the first book. It seemed almost forced. Still definitely worth it to read the series though!

The third and most recent book in the 'Soul Screamers' series started out a tad bit slower than the previous two. Slow though it may have started, slow is not how is progressed; after the first quarter of the book the tempo and electricity of 'My Soul to Save' increased dramatically and eclipsed thoughts of doing anything but reading. The reader can almost physically see the relationship between Nash and Kaylee growing, its great, and the author provides just enough heat to keep it interesting and the teen reading audience this series is meant for blushing. I can't wait to read the next book in this series 'My Soul to Keep', meant to be out in June 2010.

Six weeks after Kaylee discovers her true identity, she and her boyfriend, Nash, attend a rock concert of a mega-star. Thanks to Tod, they're able to score backstage passes.
While watching the performance from the wings, they view the lead singer collapse on stage. When Kaylee doesn't start singing, she believes the singer will survive.
She is wrong.
The singer dies without a soul. When Kaylee, Nash, and Tod talk with the oldest reaper in history, they learn she's coming back to take the opening act, Addison's, soul. Addison and Tod used to date. He convinces Kaylee and Nash to help save Addy's soul.
When someone signs away their soul, there's a loophole - you can attempt to bargain with the hellions.
Kaylee can't willingly let someone suffer for all eternity. Soon she's lying to her father, tricking Harmony into teaching her tricks to use in the Netherworld, and sneaking out to uncover answers. Before long, Addy's sister signs a contract. Now the problem deepens and it's a race against time to save two souls.
Rachel Vincent writes another thrilling tale in the SOUL SCREAMERS series, filled with danger, adventure, and romance. It's a perfect paranormal romance series.

Banshee Kaylee gets involved in trying to reclaim the soul of a popstar who happens to be the grim reapers ex-girlfriend. Now most people would wonder why a banshee is helping a grim reaper. Well Tod (the grim reaper) is Kaylee's boyfriends brother and Kaylee actually likes him. They should be natural enemies so go figure. What she needs to do to help is very dangerous and with Nash and Tod's help she just might succeed.
This is a really unique concept - banshees and grim reapers working together to save souls instead of taking them. I'm really enjoying this series. It may be young adult but it isn't the usual teeny bopper BS. The only high schooly thing is her curfew and the homework. No high school angst. No vengeful cheerleaders, etc. It's just about Kaylee learning how to control her wail and saving souls, of course.
