Hmmm, what can I say. The premise of this book was good: an honorable man with a tortured past meets a feisty, innocent, and independant young woman who needs protecting. I've enjoyed most of LL's Breed books but this one went a bit further than I was really comfortable with. I'm just not into pleasure/pain and spanking - that brought in a bit of an "ick" factor for me. Not to mention, the whole "ultimate submission/dominance" act that seems to appear at least once in almost every Breed book. I've gotten more accustomed to it, but if this isn't your cuppa be aware that there's a bit more of that sort of "play" in this short book than in previous ones. What I really enjoyed (beyond the normal HEA) was seeing Dash and Cassie again (from Elizabeth's Wolf - such an excellent book). Cassie (Elizabeth's daughter - who sees "fairies") has an especially nice part that comes in at a pivotal moment to help the hero. I may be a bit of a prude about the pleasure/pain stuff, but diehard LL fans out there will definitely want to read this book!

Sigh, what can I say - a favorite 'keeper'... Some books are just more re-readable than others.
#1 in the Breeds Coyote series and #5 in the overall Breeds chronology last I checked.

I liked it, but then I like all the Breeds stories. Would read it again!

I liked this story. My only complaint is that it's much too short. The plot is a bit thin. It could have used about another 100 pages or so. The hero and heroine weren't annoying, but they needed to be developed more. She was strong, and vulnerable when she needed to be. He is quite an alpha male, but it's so easy to see he is also quite gentle and loving. The passion and chemistry between the hero and heroine are intense. It's beyond anything in the previous Breeds books. The sexual scenes are off the charts, and because this book was published by Ellora's Cave, the scenes are even a notch above the usual Lora Leigh love scenes. This isn't vanilla sex. If you can't handle erotica, you'll need to skim those sections.
The cover on this book is one of the best covers of the Breeds books. Although this book can stand alone, you're going to enjoy it much more if you've read the previous Breeds stories.
