Mixed feelings on this one. It is really hard for me to review. At times I really enjoyed this story but at other times, I was bored and wished it would end. Feelings were also mixed on the main character. Part of me didn't really care for her. She was angry, curt, blaming and stubborn. Then other times she was brave, caring, loving and strong. Still not sure how I feel about her. I did love her kids though. They were something else. The beginning of the story was good. At times it was slow. Then about three quarters of the way through, it got faster but really weird. Can't say I really cared in what direction it was going. Then came the ending which was a bit unbelievable. Unusual story that was nicely written.

This is a strange but wonderful book. I don't want to go into too much detail (or any at all!) about the plot so as to not give anything away. Suffice it to say that it's a captivating read with unique but likeable characters which addresses topics including gender identity, racism, and cults. It is also surprisingly erotic in places.
