This is definitely a unique story, set partly in the 1900's around lake Superior and partly in a land in another world called Isavalta. Bridget, the heroine, has visions that sometimes come true. She is drawn to Isavalta by a sorcerer, and saves both her world and theirs. There are many things that happen inbetween, and I was able to predict most of what happened and the relationships between people. I like that it told the story from different points of view, however I felt the author played out the end a bit too long, yet not so long I was annoyed by it. It leaves the reader with unanswered questions, which could be intentional or it could be so that the author could write a sequel. I will only find out if I read mor by Zettel.

The magical system in this book made sense and was plausible. She uses known folklore in a unique and engaging way. There are no true villians in the book, you come to understand why they act as they do, but the main character is strongly sympthatic. I really enjoyed this book.
