Jerry Jenkins has done it again! A riviting story of life in the future where all religion is outlawed. It is told from the view of a highly respected agent of the National Peace Organization who acts as intelligence and undercover to find and kill all religious factions. Of course it is mostly aimed at born again Christians, many who are martyred. This is Paul Stepolas journey to discover Christ in his own life, even though he doesn't desire it. Excellent reading and makes you not want the book to end. Shadowed and Silenced are sequels and every bit as good.

In the aftermath of World War III, the world is resolved as never before to eliminate war. The war killed millions of people and wiped out entire countries. Now, all nations have agreed to remove the most serious threat to peace. Outlaw religion.

Excellent series of 3 books: Soon, Silenced, & Shadowed.

Soon begins with a National Peace Organization special agent Dr. Paul Stepola. At this time in America, "God" in any way, shape or form has been made illeagal. No worship, no faith, and certainly no believing in God. It is Paul's job to basically do what Saul did in the scriptures...to track down an eliminate any "Underground Zealot" otherwise known as "Christians". Paul is good at his job!

Throughout the book, Paul is faced with experiancing a "miracle" of his own which now has him questioning...but he can't allow a soul on earth to know this.

Read for yourself to see how the Lord reveals Himself to Paul... then don't forget to move on to book 2, "Silenced"!

This is a very good book and the first in the series and the end times. I couldn't put it down.

I bought this book because I thought it was an interesting premise for a hard core science fiction novel. However it is no more than a lesson in the furthering of the Christian Right. I have nothing against Christianity in any way, however the marketing and listing of this book could be more accurate.
I did some research on Mr Jenkins and if you should choose to read this book check him out on Wikipedia, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Jenkins) , first.
Happy reading

In this novel, Jenkins portrays a world without religion, a world where no one can even speak of spiritual beings, occurrences or experiences. I was lost in the world of the novel, frightened of the day our world ends up the same way.

A third world war ends in 2009 and as part of a peace agreement, a new world government is formed.

There is a new way to track the years, A.D. has been abandoned as being associated with religion - and all religion has been outlawed....religion, especially the Christian religion is thought to be THE problem in keeping peace throughout the world.

So here we are at year 36 after the war (36 P3) and religious practice has gone underground. We have a new very large government department whose prime task is to find and destroy all the small groups who continue to believe in God.

Our hero is Dr. Paul Stepola, rising star in the NPO (National Peace Organization) and committed to his work at the NPO. He took his doctorate in religious studies and is considered an expert in his field.

However, God works in mysterious ways and things change. As the reader, we are allowed to watch the changes unfold.

Great read with some violence (not in all the gory details).
An interesting "future history".

If you are an extremely anti-religous person, you will NOT enjoy reading this book or this series. But then, you already knew that!

This is the type of book that makes you look at present day circumstances and can see how this could possibly come true.

This is a hard cover. Haven't read it. Probably similar to Left Behind, but not the same characters. Set in the aftermath of WW3 when religion is outlawed, but before the rapture.
