I really, really liked this book. It ran my life for the time it took me to read it...laundry? dishes? Forget about them! Pick a rainy weekend to enjoy this one.

I expected a typical romance, but this had a lot of excitement. Almost as good as the Diana Gabaldon "Outlander" series, and I don't say that about much of anything since I've read those. Basically, this was Gabaldon mixed with the excitement/chase/danger of a really good Grisham book. It was GREAT. Highly recommended!

I don't think time travel books are her forte, although this is not a bad book. It is a good early Howard, strong characters and sex scenes. Too many loopholes in time travel books for me...

I was surprised at this book. It wasn't quite what I was expecting when I picked it up. But wow, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Even has some time travel in it, which was wonderfully done.

Good read. This is different from the usual Linda Howard. The switches between time periods were handled very well.

I really loved this book, read almost the whole thing on the plane from California to New York. Not what I expected, it's a Scottish time travel romance, yet also a thriller like The Pelican Brief with a Da Vinci Code twist to it and even some of Nurse Betty! A real page turner - hard to put down.

This is one of the best time-travels I've ever read. None of the cliché stuff you find in "every" TT book. This is not a comedy at all.
Linda Howard's knack for building the characters and relationships is followed through again. I have some personal reservations about a couple of pages near the end but this doesn't reflect on the quality of the book. For people who are secure in what they believe this is an excellent book!

I'm a Linda Howard fan anyway so I knew I'd enjoy this. Has a bit of the old Time Travel genre that I always enjoyed. Great read.

I simply adored this book. I have read it twice, and loaned it out a couple of times, and everyone I talk to is a huge fan of this book. It's not your average time-travel AT ALL. It's so much more than that -- It's as much thriller as anything else. Very fast paced and totally engrossing, this book is a permanent keeper!!!!

A real slow starter but around page 50 something dramatic happens and kicks off the mystery. Grace St. John specializes in tranlating ancient documents and something spectacular comes across her desk...something someone is willing to kill for. Suddenly she is on the run and desperate to figure out what is going on. She comes across a reference to Niall of Scotland and stumbles into a time travel theory which carries most of the book. I found this exciting and since I greatly enjoy Scotland and time travel, found this book right up my alley.

I absolutely loved this book. In fact, I loved it so much, I let my co-worker borrow it. Sure enough, afterwards, she wanted her sister to borrow it. Well, you get the hint. I haven't seen it back as it is going from person to person. Everyone loves it. The characters are very well developed and you can tell Linda Howard put some thought into this book. There are some very steamy scenes in the book that don't seem out of place!

I am a huge fan of Linda Howard and this was one of my favorite LH books. The beginning is sad as Grace watches her husband and brother being murdered, and then she has to go on the run from the killers who know she saw what happened. She was very clever the way she kept avoiding being caught. In the meanwhile, she is working on the transcripts to uncover ancient secrets from the past. When she finally travels through time to the 14th century and meets Niall of Scotland, the action really begins. Niall is one of the hottest, sexiest men ever put on paper! When it finally happens, the sex scenes between the two are amazing. If I were to have one negative comment to make, it would be that the characters do not actually meet until about two-thirds way through the book. But it is definitely worth the wait!

A scholar specializing in ancient manuscripts, Grace St. John never imagined that a cache of fragile, old documents she discovered was the missing link to a lost Celtic treasure. But as soon as she deciphers the intriguing legend of the Knights of the Templar -- long fabled to hold the key to unlimited power -- Grace becomes the target of a ruthless killer bent on abusing the coveted force. Determined to stop him, Grace needs the help of a celebrated warrior bound by duty to uphold the Templar\'s secret for all eternity. But to find him -- and to save herself -- she must go back in time.

Summoning the magic of an arcane ritual, Grace steps back to the barren hills of 14th-century Scotland, enduring the perils of an untamed land to confront Black Niall, a fierce man of dark fury and raw, unbridled desire. Driven by a mix of fear and passion, Grace enlists this brazen knight to join her in a modern-day search for a killer. In their quest to protect a timeless secret, they uncover a love for all time -- and a deadly duel of honor that risks everything they have.

It's amazingly good. Linda Howard hasn't let me down yet! I was wary at first, due to the time travelung element, but Howard came out in top and even made me wish for more of the same. Her female protagonist goes through a whole lot more development in this book than the others, but it is a logical progression, from inexperience bookworm to confident woman. In short, one of my top ten by Linda Howard.

Grace St. John is a scholar specializing in ancient manuscripts. She has recently started working on a new cache of old documents. One fateful evening, her computer was acting up, so she went next door to the teenage computer geek to get him to fix her computer. When she walks home, she notices her boss in her house with her husband and brother. She watches in horror as her boss shoots these two men in cold blood and waits in ambush for her. Not only that, he arranges the scene to make it look like she did it. She cannot imagine why he would do such a thing. She takes off on the run with both her boss and the police after her. She guesses that the papers she has with her are the key to the mystery. While on the run, she slowly unravels the mystery of the papers and understands what it is that her boss is trying to get - the treasure of the Templars. In order to stop him, she must travel back in time to 14th century Scotland so that she can take over the power of the treasure in order to protect it. This was mostly a thriller with a little romance thrown in on the side!
