Great read. Historical fiction. Story told from different characters perspectives, but each chapter is labeled so I could easily follow. I read a lot of historical fiction, but this is one time/ era I was not familiar with. The Amana community is a set of 3 communes/ or cooperatives in the mid 1800's. Very interesting how the members work together. I did not feel the oppresive fear of leaders that would lead me to feel like this was an occult. Just families working together for the better of the whole. Lots of detail of work performed and prayer/ church meetings.
