Amber is in a coma and doesn't remember what happened. The story switches back and forth between NOW and THEN. The book captures you from the beginning and you hear the narrative from Amber but you don't know what or who to believe. Many twists later, you learn what happened. The ending slaps you in the face and leaves you speechless. Very cleverly written and it will leave you wondering what Alice Feeney will write about next. Don't miss this one!
I do not write many reviews but this book led me to this place. What to say? I have read hundreds of mystery/thrillers and never been totally lost within a story line until now. The book only has a few characters but about the time you think you know and understand each character all things change. If you enjoy books that give you a turn at every corner, read away and enjoy. I must say this is the first time I have ever finished a book with the thought "what did I just read?"

Wild Ride with no seatbelt. This story starts off quickly and pulls you in till the very and I mean very last page.
This is one of those books that you can't put down because you have to find out what is going to happen next.
Two sisters and the secrets, lies and lives they have together. Hold on for a thrilling ride

Wow! With a title like SOMETIMES I LIE I expected there to be a curve ball or two thrown into the plot but I did NOT see the twists in this tale coming at all! It boggled the mind for a bit. I had to ponder awhile to catch up! Then I couldn't turn the pages fast enough as the twisty, clever ending all played out. A very satisfying thriller!
Psychological suspense with lots of twists! One of those where you think the story is one thing and then the twist is so big you are left wondering who is who and what is up. And then you think you have it figured out again and there is another twist. Very well written.

Amber is in a coma. She is in the hospital and even though she is immobile, can't speak, and can't open her eyes, she is able to hear what goes on around her and her mind is desperately trying to remember what happened to her. She understands that she has been in some kind of an accident and suspects that her husband may have had something to do with it. She also thinks her husband may be having an affair with her sister, Claire. But all is definitely not what it seems. The narrative switches between what Amber is able to hear while in her coma and what happened during the week before her accident on Christmas Day. The novel also uses her diaries from 1992 which show a very troubled girlhood with parents who don't seem to love her.
This novel probably has more twists to the story than I have ever encountered before. Of course from the title we know that the narrator sometimes lies. And of course, the narrator is very unreliable. But I was really surprised at how the novel changed perspectives and was very shocked by the conclusion. Overall, a good psychological thriller that I am still thinking about and trying to digest.

This is one of those books that once started you won't want to put down and hours, nay, days afterwards you are going to question what you think happened. I won't rehash the storyline as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but seriously this is one twisty, turny book! If you like a good psychological mystery, put your life on hold and ban everyone from your home for the day and go for the ride of your life.
I'm still questioning what I think I know and it's been a week since I finished it and read everyone else's opinion of what they think happened (here). I keep having to remind myself though that the title was "Sometimes I Lie". I can so see this as the next great "Big Little Lies" type of TV drama.

I tell everyone about this book. I've never been on such a fun, thrilling ride through a story as I did during this one. The story pulled me in easily. There was mystery, surprise... everything you want. READ IT.
This one really keeps you reading. "Sometimes I lie" is an understatement. Well written, great plot. The endings are a surprise.
