I really enjoyed this book. It was better than the first book (Somthing Borrowed) but should definitely be read only after that one. It not only adds depth to the first book (The first few chapters "flashback" to the events in the first book, but from the perspective of a different character) but then moves on to become a great book in its own right. This book will make you laugh, cry, and never want it to end.

This sequel to Something Borrowed is every bit as good, if not better, than the first book. This story covers the shallow, narcissistic Darcy Rhone, the best friend of the heroine in Something Borrowed. Something Blue is a quick read, well-written, and quite believable. The dialog and situations are realistic. The reader also learns more about Dexter and Rachel as a couple and what they were like as individuals.

LOVED IT! I actually liked it even more than I liked Something Borrowed. Sure, it's frustrating to hear it from Darcy's point of view because she is annoying at times. But the fact that she bothered me so much just means I was really into the book. I felt like I knew her! And it was fun to read about her adventures after Something Borrowed. I don't want to say too much in the review and give away anything, but I highly recommend this book. But make sure you read Something Borrowed first :) GREAT summer reading by the pool!

I actually hated this book. Too linear, too perfect -- you knew it would all work out in the end, with a nice little bow on top. Absurd and ridiculous. Characters you could care less about, living a life that is patently unrealistic, and her redemption at the end -- if you even want to call it that -- smacked of obvious prose and reading-for-dummies. She explained it all, never allowing the reader to truly care, to truly wonder. Ludicrous. I am sorry I went to the time and trouble to read it.

This book was more heart warming than I thought. I had read Something Borrowed and was already not a fan of Darcy. When reading the book it was very easy to see into Darcy's head and yes, at times I wanted to just give her a good slap, but by the end of the book I wanted to hug her. Very honest, funny, and warm.

Good book, I liked this one better than Something Borrowed. I couldn't sympathize with Rachel's choices at all. But Darcy (whom I have nothing in common) and her complete disregard for others' feelings made me want to see a character ark which the author delivered Somethin Blue.

If this is the best chick lit can produce we are all in trouble. It is predictable, pedestrian, and poorly written. There isn't one character in it that you'd like to have a drink with or ask a question about. The author must be laughing all the way to the bank.

This book follows Darcy, the best friend of Rachel from Something Borrowed. This book picks up after Darcy discoverers Rachel and Darcy's fiance Dex had an affair and after Darcy's own affair leaves her pregnant with her fiance's best friend's baby.

I didn't like Darcy after reading the first book, and even after reading this book I'm still not a big fan of Darcy's. But this book was still pretty good. I liked that the story picks up where the first one left off. We're not left to wonder what happened in the time between, because there is no time between.

The characters are still as great as they were in the first book. They are well rounded and I still felt like I knew them.

Darcy tries to make a turn-around but I still felt that she was self-absorbed. I have to admit that I like her more at the end of the book than I did at the beginning, but she's still mot my favorite person.

Even despite the fact that I didn't like the main character I would still say this was a really good book. Emily Giffin is great writer for her genre. She knows how to write Chick Lit and does it well.

I borrowed this book from a friend so I won't be able to swap it, but it's well worth reading, especially if you like good Chick Lit.

While I would suggest reading "Something Borrowed" before you read this book, I think "Something Blue" is definitely the better of the two. Emily Giffin has such a great sense of humor that comes out through her characters.

I really hated Darcy through all of "Something Borrowed" and that dislike just multiplied in the beginning of this book. She was so pretentious and shallow, you just wanted to hit her. But she really blossomed in the middle/end of this book and you were able to see that a good person was hiding in there all along.

Even though she was 28, or how ever many years old, this really is sort of a coming of age book. You see Darcy blossom as she grows from her old shallow self into a new mother who cares about other people and not just herself. I definitely had some tears in my eyes and a huge smile on my face as I read the end of this book. I really enjoyed it.

I started with the first book - something borrowed. I would recommend reading both. The first is from the viewpoint of one friend and the 2nd book is from the viewpoint of the other. Each just as good.

Still on the waiting list for the 3rd.

If you like this... you may also like Valley of the Dolls. I found them similar in style, allow different topics.

What a great book! I read "Something Borrowed" a while ago, and don't remember much, but the first couple of chapters give enough background information to enjoy the rest of the book!

I read this book in less than a day. I wanted to keep reading, to find out what happened to Darcy, and in the end, I was especially please with how her life turned out!

A very good book...highly recommended by this reader. Perfect for a rainy day or beach reading. Have tissues on hand for the last 3 chapters!!

I liked this SOOOOOO much more than Something Borrowed. Although Darcy, the lead character in this one, makes a huge transformation, it seemed believable and within her character. While the first book read to me like a long justification on Rachel's part, this book truly had a story that was much more real and touching. I'd still recommend reading Something Borrowed first to get the background.

I picked this and Something Borrowed up at Target one year after someone had given me a gift card. I truly judged these books by their covers before I ever read them. I fell in love with Something Borrowed. I almost didn't read Something Blue because I hated Darcy in Something Borrowed. I can honestly say that I didn't think Ms. Giffin would be able to make Darcy a sympathetic character, but she completely proved me wrong. Darcy became an entirely different person throughout the course of the novel and even finds the love she thought she'd never find! If you haven't read Something Blue, you most definitely should.

It took me a little while to get into this book, because Darcy starts out as the same narcissistic idiot that she was in Something Borrowed. I was excited to read this after I finished Something Borrowed. However, I was a bit let down by it because I felt like it was too predictable. I did enjoy it, but I think I liked the first book the most. Although a few instances in it were surprising, I had pretty much figured out the overall ending fairly quickly. I was hoping for a few more surprises.

For the most part though, I enjoyed both books & would recommend them if you want a couple of fairly quick & fun reads.

This is the sequel to _Something Borrowed_. It dovetails with its predecessor, examining things from Darcy's point of view. At first it's really easy to dislike Darcy. She is shallow, temperamental, and incredibly manipulative. However, she's a more confident character than Rachel was in the previous book and her vivacity and nature kind of remind me of Scarlett from Gone with the Wind. As the book progresses and her usual method of getting her way proves inept, she really undergoes a huge transformation which is fascinating to see unfold. This, like the one before, is fun and well written with the same breezy, conversational prose of the first. If you like books that feature characters learning how to improve themselves as a basic human being, this book is for you. It's also a really quick read and would be perfect for airplanes or on the beach; not too complicated, but a lot going on! Loved it!

So picture me, all psyched having finshed Something Borrowed in uber record time and totally stoked about reading the further wonderment of Rachel and her new beau Dex. Now picture me, one chapter into the book, with flames coming out of my ears because Something Blue is NOT a sequel of Something Borrowed, but it is the story of Darcy's take on the situation and how she got herself knocked up and how she simply can't believe that noone is apologizing to her and OH POOR DARCY. Picture me LIVID!!! But of course, I still read the book, because I'm certain that at some point, Rachel and Dex HAVE to come into the picture. I hated the book nearly all the way through it, I was rooting for Ethan to kick Darcy out and for Marcus's balls to grow large enough to stop dealing with her shennanigan's and ditch her sorry behind onto the streets of Manhatten. But of course, I couldn't stop reading, because I NEEDED to know what happened. I will give Giffin a B+ in her Sophomore writing attempt, the story line is woven better, but I simply can't understand who can be that self-centered. This is a GREAT novel to give to those friends who don't realize they think they are the center of the world.....The book wraps up a little to neatly, but, hey, it is chick lit :)

I had difficulty sympathizing with the main character -- she is so incredibly selfish and shallow. Yet I had to be there when she finally realized she simply had to change. Good read.

Not as good as her first book, Something Borrowed, but still a good read. Fun and quick to read. Didn't want to put it down, you want to know what happens to these characters.

I got through half of this book and like everyone else can't stand Darcy. After Cruella DeVil, Darcy Rhone ranks #2 in characters I cannot tolerate. I had to stop reading it because I don't want to see her get a happily ever after and especially not with Ethan.

Good job to the author for creating a character that is so despicable that the reader gets lock-jaw from clenching her teeth so hard while reading.

Darcy Rhone thought she had it all figured out: the more beautiful the girl, the more charmed her life. Never mind substance. Never mind playing by the rules. Never mind karma. But Darcys neat, perfect world turns upside down when her best friend, Rachel, the plain-Jane good girl, steals her fianc, while Darcy finds herself completely alone for the first time in her lifewith a baby on the way. Darcy tries to recover, fleeing to her childhood friend living in London and resorting to her tried-and-true methods for getting what she wants. But as she attempts to recreate her glamorous life on a new continent, Darcy finds that her rules no longer apply. It is only then that Darcy can begin her journey toward self-awareness, forgiveness, and motherhood. Something Blue is a novel about one womans surprising discoveries about the true meaning of friendship, love, and happily-ever-after. Its a novel for anyone who has ever, even secretly, wondered if the last thing you want is really the one thing you need.

I hated this book for the first 200 pages. Darcy, the heroine, is the worst kind of character: self-absorbed and manipulative. About page 200, pregnant with twins and feeling increasingly alone in Londer, she gets a wake-up kick in the pants from an old friend. Overall, a good story.

After reading Something Borrowed, I wasn't sure I would like this book. I didn't really like Darcy on a personal level in the first book. That said, I really liked how the character was developed in this book. It was great to read about her growing maturity and her journey to become a better person. This is a must read for anyone who has read Something Borrowed and were left wondering what happened to Darcy. This book finishes the story. I'll be reading Baby Proof next!

This was the first book I picked up by Emily Giffin, it was so good that I had to go and read "Something Borrowed". However the first book was not as good as this one and I really loved the character Darcy. This book made me laugh and cry. I liked Darcy so much that when I read something borrowed, I resented the heroine Rachel. This is definatley a good read!

I LOVED Something Borrowed and didn't think that I'd like this book that much because I really disliked the character Darcy - but was really suprised by her "redemtion." While I feel that Something Borrowed was a better book (especially because it wasn't wrapped up so neatly and quickly in the end as this book was) I still really enjoyed it.

Why Youre Reading It:

You like unique books in a favorite genre
You enjoy twists in a novel
You like chick-lit with a little meat
You loved Something Borrowed and want to see what happens next.
What I Thought:

This is the sequel to Something Borrowed. You will be so glad it exists, yet you will wonder how you can read it after connecting so well with the main character in the first book. And, as contradictory as it sounds after just saying how much I related to the main character in the last book, I fully related to the main character in this book too! (You will realize how interesting that is after reading these). This is actually my favorite of the two. I was obsessed and almost read it in one sitting.

I loved it.

I had so much fun, wanted to be in the novel, and willed the book not to end. But it did. Bummer. Read it, love it, and dont tell me if you dont. (Just kidding, you can tell me, but Ill think youre stupid.)

What a waste of time! Sorry. I really liked her other two books but this just seemed like she was wanting to waste time writting, This is Darcy's side of the 'story' and it was just.... well the first 60 or so pages you don't even have to read if you read the other one and the last 60 or so pages are rushed because she wasted so much damn time in the first sixty re telling the original story. What a shame it was a good idea I just don't think it worked out well for her.
I wouldn't read it.
