A perfect summer beach read! The characters are delightfully imperfect humans who have mishaps and misunderstandings on the way to their happily ever afters. There are also great scenes of small town life and visits with characters from Higgins' other books. James has been interested in Parker for a long time, but usually she won't even give him the time of day. Then when her world is turned upside down she doesn't have much of a choice but to accept his help. Slowly she realizes he is a great guy, but there are a few more bumps in the road before they're on the same page at the same time.

Another Kristan Higgins book that was sweet, sassy and full of life. The reader meets Parker Welles a single mom who is in an interesting situation. The father of her child is married to her best friend and the three of them make a great support system to raise the sweetest little boy - Nicky. A devastating blow to Parker's lifestyle happens and her world is immediately changed and it takes a village to help her get back on her feet.

Although these books can seem to be predictable, they have heart and romance which are just the right ingredients for a sweet summer romance. I love the ease of reading with all of Kristan Higgins books, sometimes its not only the plot that makes a book, but the way a book is written. As well, Kristan Higgins' characters are always easy to connect with, so the story can quickly grow around such great characters.

I would recommend all readers to pick up this book and take it to a pool or to the beach. It was easy to get into this one and the story didn't lull at all, I was swept into the story the entire time.

Normally I think Kristan Higgins romances are cute, featuring an adorable love interest, but with a highly irritating female protagonist who engages in embarrassing behavior and/or doesnt know when to shut it. Which is probably why I enjoyed SOMEBODY LIKE YOU as much as I did: theres no cringe-worthy word vomit! Parker is a sensible, unspoiled, caring, actually desirable female! James is Thing One. (Okay, no, but seriously, Im always a little wary of a dual-narrative romance, but James is great in his caring and, well, his normalcy.) Higgins brings us back to the beloved oceanside Maine town of Gideons Cove, and we encounter endearing supporting characters both old and new. The wit and humor is as good as ever. With each book of hers, Higgins moves more and more away from her old formula for romance to explore refreshing new situations and characters. Loved it! Cant wait for more.
