Somebody Like You just proves what a knack Beth Vogt has for penning a perfect romance centered around imperfect people. Haley Ames and her estranged brother-in-law, Stephen are both trying to cope with the death of husband and brother, Sam. Neither expects to find solace with each other but God has a different plan.
As far as contemporary romances go, I can honestly go weeks without reading them, but when it comes to Vogt's modern day love stories they go on my reading list before the cover blurbs and artwork are posted on Amazon. They are simply put engaging and unique tales that pull at the heart strings. Somebody Like You continues the trend. With characters like Haley, the tomboy and Stephen, the dependable softie looking for some answers about his deceased brother, both go from cautious strangers who share nothing but a bond with Sam to so much more by the time the last page is turned. The connection between the characters and myself as a reader was there from the first page. The ability to connect with characters is a must for this reader and Somebody Like You definitely does that.
If you haven't had the chance to enjoy her Christian centered romances, I highly recommend them all. The best part is that each one is such a page turner. Somebody Like You is going down as a summer must-have book and probably one of my favorite contemporary stories of the year!

This book is amazing, I had a hard time wanting to put it down and actually get some housework done....lol! This book is about loss and love and healing. Where two people have fallen in love and then Haley looses the love of her life to an on going war in Afghanistan. Why she lives with they guilt of a secret she kept from him in hopes to tell him face to face. When she is brought face to face with Sam her husbands past and she doesn't know what to do but push and try to out run her guilt and try not to get to close to her husband past.

Now he has to find the brother he lost touch with when they were 13 and he doesn't know where to begin until he find outs that his brother was married and they lived a short 2 hours from him. So off he goes little does he know by trying to find out about the years he loss is going to put him on a journey he never thought he would be on.
While both Haley and Stephen try to find healing and forgiveness from the guilt they work hard and trying not to forget to live in the feature. I don't want to give to much away I can say that this book with get to the heart of the matter, my emotions were drug through the ringer with this little story between the heartbreak of Haley and losing Sam, then Stephens guilt and sadness over never making amends with his mirror twin. I will say that this is a book you will not want to miss out on and you will want to add to your personal library for sure.

This story holds a deep sense of Christian faith, although its not so much that each page drips with evangelism. Its clear that Haley and her family trust Gods will and His plan for their future. I appreciated the strong family ties that echoed throughout this book. If you want a story that goes beyond the basic romance model, definitely pick up Somebody Like You. Haley Ames is only married three years when her husband, Sam, is killed in Afghanistan. She's trying to come to grips with the loss as well as the upcoming birth of their child. One night when she arrives home, she gets the shock of her life. Her husband is waiting for her! How can that be? Stephen Ames hasn't spoken to his identical twin in more than twelve years. He wants to make things right but then finds out about Sam's death. He's hoping Haley can help him discover who his brother (and once best friend) became. He finds out however, that Sam never mentioned Stephen to Haley. Sam and Stephen were mirror images of each other and that's difficult for Haley at first, but as Stephen helps her out she begins to see how different they really are. Stephen and Haley are very drawn to each other and slowly build a relationship but is Haley only attracted to him because he looks like Sam. Would building a life together somehow dishonor his brother?

You know those books that just stick with you? The kind that is beautiful in its complexity and yet its simplicity. The kind that the characters reach through the pages and twine themselves around your heart. That book is Somebody Like You.
From the first page to the last, Halley and Steven wound their way around my heart with their emotions, their struggles and their heart. Steven is one of those heroes that every girl wants to sigh over and prays will walk into her life. My heart yearned to patch his in the rift that has ripped through his and his twin brothers relationship.
And Haley. I dont even know how to describe her. The book does such a better job than my words ever will. There is a complex layer of emotions protecting her-but they are flimsy at best and a shallow shell that only leaves her feeling more lost. There is such a fine balance to walk in this book: can a widow fall in love with her husbands mirror twin brother?
I have to be honest: I wasnt sure it could be done. Without feeling rushed. Without feeling as though Haley was betraying her first husband, Sam. I think you can look at my star rating and see that I thought this novel is a success. Beyond a success. A beautiful mosaic of love, forgiveness and second chances and yetso much more.
