This is the 4th "Lakeshore Chronicles" book. Having read the other 3, I was a bit apprehensive in reading Sophie Bellamy's story. She was the ex-wife who virtually abandoned her kids. But Wiggs does a nice job of explaining the importance of Sophie's work and then the necessity of her moving to Avalon to be with her kids after she is taken hostage in Holland. Here is a nice romance which works through the problems of differences in life style, age differences and issues about family and children. I enjoyed this book lot!

Took me a few pages to get into the book. When I started it was wondering why I was bothering but by the second chapter was hooked.

This is Book #4 in the Lakeshore Chronicles. It was as enjoyable to read as the three preceding segments. I find each of the characters developed into full scale stories of their own to be interesting and challenging and look forward to the next in the series.

Sophie Bellamy has been protrayed in the earlier stories as the former wife & absentee mother - and I'm sure I had a rather poor impression of her character. Although it seemed as if Sophie was a selfish, career-driven woman, this story peels away the layers and reveals the real woman. Although it takes a life-threatening event to bring Sophie back to her family and discovery of her real values in life, she is actually a brave, caring woman. Her love interest, Noah, breathes new life (and, as a bonus, a lot of humor) to this story. I really got caught up in the lives of Sophie & Noah, and of Max & Daisy & Daisy's baby. You won't be disappointed, but expect to laugh, cry & worry about how this wonderful story will end. I've enjoyed ALL the Lakeshore Chronicles, but this one in particular touched my heart. A special place in my "keeper shelf" for these stories!

What a surprisingly good book! I was poised not to like Sophie based on how she was painted in the other books in this series. But this book has turned out to be the best so far.

This was the first book I've read on the "Lakeshore Chronicles" and was glad to see it didn't loose anything from not reading the others. I loved the characters and the story as well as the additional hints to other stories that I can't wait to read the other books associated with the the small town of Avalon.

I found this book to be the best of the series. I enjoyed reading Sophie and Noah's journey, and to be honest - I thought this was the most real book of them all. The other books have been good, but I didn't want to put this down. Perfect book for a cold winter day.

Susan Wiggs has done it again. Another easy to read and engaging book that you cannot put down. So grab your afghan, a cup of coffee and head for the recliner ... this is a must read!

It's a story told from everyone's angle. I thought it was good. Sophie and Noah have sex. They don't go into detail. I heard this book is part of a trilogy. Who are the other books about?

This is the fourth book in the Lakeshore Chronicles series. I did not like this book as well as the previous three though it ties up loose ends with the Sophie, Greg and kids story. There are now seven books in this series. They are, in order:

"Summer at Willow Lake"
"The Winter Lodge"
"Dockside"
"Snowfall at Willow Lake"
"Fireside"
"Lakeshore Christmas"
"The Summer Hideaway"

I was not excited to read Sophie's story, but was beyond pleasantly surprised! This might be my favorite of the Lakeshore Chronicle books. Wiggs does an amazing job exploring Sophie's life and the choices she has made. Like the other books in this series, Avalon's other residents make appearances and the Bellamy family's journey is continued as we watch Daisy grow into her role as a young mother. I loved Noah from the start! It's refreshing to see how two people can love so deeply and overcome the obstacles that they encounter in a believable and heartwarming way. Excellent read!

I read this book first in the series. I think I liked Sophie better in the rest of the books because I read this one first; however, if I hadn't I can see how people would think she was kind of cold.

Yes, as always, I enjoyed her book, very much.
Her books always keep me reading, as long as possible.
I just don't want to put it down, until it is finished.

I haven't read the books before this one so I didn't have a bias against Sophie. Even then I feel like I could have ended up as one of those mothers who passed judgement on her for being an absentee mother. So it's ironic that I loved her character so much. I actually didn't care for Noah as much. He was a little too perfect all the time.

It was a great story that had be hooked from the beginning. Awesome read. I would have gave it a higher rating if Noah was more interesting.

The continuing story(s) of the folks of an upstate NY Catskill Mtn. town...This one mainly covered Sophie Bellamy's story and it brought the character to life for me and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Love the the way the author interweaves other characters throughout.... Will read the entire series!

Sophie and Noah - what a pair! But it works. I really like the reverse May-December pairing of the two. They have a great relationship.
