A very good fantasy, magic, and adventure story. I would say this book is more for the 10 through 14 crowd. Pre-teen, and early teen years. Heck, this could even be read by an 8 year old, assuming they're good readers. There is no sex, no gore, no terrible violence, no romance - just an honest to goodness adventure story. The heroes and heroines hold values like honor, courage, loyalty, truth. So, it's a really great adventure story for the young crowd.

At age 27, I found it to be a bit too simple. But, again, this book is not geared to my age range. So, obviously, it would appear simple to me! I would have liked to see more background about the characters - I felt a little cut off from them, as if I didn't really know them beyond the superficial stuff. Still, it did keep me reading and I enjoyed it. I bet I'd have loved it even more at age 12.
