As with the majority of Ms Balogh's books, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I very much liked Rachel and Alleyne and Alleynes reunion with the Bedwyns. The supporting "cast" was wonderful as well.
Helpful Score: 2
By itself it's probably a brilliant book but after reading most of the books in the series, it becomes the same old thing. Balogh uses similar plotlines (fake marriage to real in this case, heroine giving up virginity just for the experience). It should be interesting since the supporting characters are prostitutes but it was kind of dull.

I read the other books in the series, and ran out of steam for this one, it just did not interest me.

Mary Balogh has created a grand and excentric family for the 'Slightly' series.

This is a story of friendship and love during Britan's war with France. The characters are funny and loveable and the ending is really great!

The series is well worth reading - make sure to read in order - it does make a difference!

Mary Balogh is one of my favorite writers, her writing is so throughly enjoyable to read. I really enjoyed this story of the Bedwin family so much so I had to order the entire series and read all of them in less than 1 month. Anyone who enjoys reading will enjoy this and all of the books on the Bedwin family.

4 stars enjoyable entry in the series on the Bedwyn family
If I'd had to review this book halfway through, i would have given it a "meh". I was annoyed at how the relationship was progressing and was disappointed in Alleyne. But the second half of the book makes up for earlier disappointments and ultimately I decided it is one of the best books in the series. While the tale of the affable youngest Bedwyn brother wasn't particularly heroic, he was a wonderful and romantic lead. Rachel is a great character but what really took this book to the next level was the lovingly told stories of the secondary characters: the four women from the brothel and Sgt. Strickland. The relationships were so genuine and the ultimate denouement of their escapade was so unexpected it was delightful. The reunion of the Bedwyns at the end cannot be missed, make sure you have tissues handy.
I read all the books in this series out of order and it didn't really matter except this one which is surely better if you've read at least Slightly Tempted before this book.

Really great book!!
The Bedwyn brothers and sisters are such wonderful characters, Ms. Balogh does a superb job bringing each character to life, spinning passionate events that keeps the reader turning pages as fast as one can, and then reaching for the next book in the series...
Each sibling's story gets better than the last. I loved Alleyne and Rachel's story. They have chemistry and you find yourself pulling and rooting for them to be together despite all the odds they face. It is set during the battle of Waterloo and depicts a pretty accurate portrayal of how things were back then and how strong women were (taking care of their men). All in all, I loved it. Not just fluff (war is never pretty, no matter the century).
Enjoy!! :))

The Bedwyn Family books are must reads read them all.
This was a happy story with lots of lovable characters. I did like Allyene as the hero - he is charming and endearing.
I just couldn't connect with either of the lead characters. She is innocent, naive, and so beautiful she's perfect. He has amnesia so is unwilling to commit until he knows who he really is. The secondary characters were refreshing and humorous, but honestly my favorite part of this book was the teaser chapter for Slightly Dangerous. Those sound like interesting leads!
If you count the prequels One Night For love and A Summer To Remember then this is the 7th in the Bedwyn series-Alleyne's story. This whole series ia wonderful. If you haven't read any of the others. I strongly recommend reading Slighty Tempted first to get the full impact of this one. Wonderfully warm and very funny secondary characters and you get to see the other Bedwyn's also. Tissue alert towards the end.
Rachel York is a lovely young womom caught up in a desperate circumstance & must devise a scheme to regain her stolen fortune. The dashing soldier she rescues from near death could be her savior in disguise. There is just one condition: She must pose as his wife-a masquerade that will embroil them in a sinful scandal, whee a man and a woman court imprpriety with each daring step...with every taboo kiss that can turn passionate strangers into the truest of lovers....Alleyne Bedwyn, the passionate middle son of the Bedwyn family is cut off from his past-only to find his future with a sinfully beautiful woman he will risk everything to love..
Historical Romance- This is the sixth book in the series. I really enjoyed it
Lord Bedwyn is thrown from his horse and wakes in a brothel. He is nursed back to health by one of the women and she is looking to find her lost fortune and needs to move on and he is the middle son with no fortune. They must pose as husband and wife to try to gain her fortune.Very Good.
Another wonderful book, from Mary Balogh! I couldn\'t put this one down!!
Mary Balogh never disappoints. The ending was incredibly emotional. I can't wait to read the finale to this excellent series!
In Balogh's Bedwyn series. Lord Alleyne Bedwyn is injured on the field at Waterloo and loses his memory. Rachel York nurses him back to health.
Fifth in the "Slightly" series, wonderful book, but you absolutely must read the preceding book (Slightly Tempted) first! Wonderful series, a must-read!
Better than most amnesiac plots in romances. The secondary characters, a band of prostitutes, were nearly my favorite part of the book.
While delivering a message during the battle of Waterloo, Lord Alleyne Bedwyn is shot in the leg and falls from his horse, hitting his head. He later wakes up in a brothel with no memory of who he is. His nurse is Rachel York, a woman who has been left destitute because a con man has stolen all her and her friends money. Alleyne and Rachel devise a scheme to regain her stolen fortune.
This was an interesting amnesia themed story with likable characters. Alleyne and Rachel pose as husband and wife in order to claim her inheritance. While doing so, they take along her friends from the brothel to help them with their scheme. At the end of the book when Alleyne regains his memory, we get to see his reunion with the rest of the Bedwyns. My rating: 4 Stars.

Regency era romance, the story of Lord Alleyne Bedwyn, a diplomat with amnesia.
**From the back cover** As the fires of war raged around him, Lord Alleyne Bedwyn was thrown from his horse and left for dead-only to awaken in the bedchamber of a ladies' brothel. Suddenly the dark, handsome diplomat has no memory of who he is or how he got there-yet of one thing he is certain: the angel who nurses him back to health is the woman he vows to make his own. But like him, Rachel York is not who she seems. A lovely young woman caught up in a desperate circumstance, she must devise a scheme to regain her stolen fortune. The dashing soldier she rescued from near death could be her savior in disguise. There is just one condition:she must pose as his wife-a masquerade that will embroil them in a sinful scandal, where a man and a woman court impropriety with each daring step...with every taboo kiss that can turn passionate strangers into the truest of lover....
This a wonderful book (I recently acquired a HB for keeping)Alleyne Bedwyns story is great and the very poignant family scenes made me tear up (and I NEVER cry!) I absolutely adored this novel.
